You could loosen the drum a little, set the brakes, then tighten up the drum to center the drum if it is too much out of round.

Put the dial gauge on hub on the ring by edge and cane up with 20 thousdnths out of round. Adjusted slack tight then backed out 3/4 of a turn and it clears no rubbing. Gona leave it set bearing at 50ft and back about qrt turn. Locked outer nut down. Just gota put axle in fill the diff with gear oil to fill hole. Then change fuel filters, engine oil and filter and new antifreeze filter. Ckeck air filter prob run get one new. Fix cb too. At least its nice out gona be 45 or warmer today. Got couple good used tires for now till do other side then put new on both. I'll get it all done yet.

Hey, thought of one more thing, I always put some lube in the well of the hub. sometimes there is a pipe plug in the hub you can take out to put some in. This gets oil to the bearings right away.
Its 45 here too and I have to go out and put the snow plow on!! Something seems wrong with this picture.

Already put some lube in the hub and on bearings before I installed. Gona shove axle in now. The weather has been great all winter here can't complain suppose get little cold end of week but ill be driving. Only got to be in it to load logs. Maybe well get another warm-up in time to do the other side of the axle.

The one with the jam nut is a ring gear stabilizer. It prevents flexing of the ring gear under load and provides support for the carrier.
1/2" square female is the one you want, and yes, bottom of the hole and check the vent.
