Scooby379 you are right man 100%...yea its a shame as to whats happening...lets push out the experienced drivers, and then we can hire all these morons because we can pay them less..and they wont know any difference....but yea overall they want zombies/robots driving the trucks...i may not in the perfect health i once was like when i was 18-25, but none the less my experience should count for something...and i continue to get frustrated as these companies pay less and less and less...im starting to see a trend here when it comes to reefers and dry vans...they seem to be paying less and less for experience...but yet iin tankers my worth just goes up and up and up...:biggrin_2559:

I have to say that for a bunch of experienced truck drivers you all cry alot about a little... Sorry ifI hurt anyone's feeling here but...
Tank, get over it, crying over spilled milk does NOT unspill the milk, you had time to get things done, I'm sure there were other places you could have gotten too rather then waiting until you got home... but.... you didn't and now you the poo is on you, go back to tanks if that's where you were so happy, simple thing to do if you're all that you say you are. If I was sitting in the office at any company and heard you tinkle and pitch about how bad we all were I wouldn't call you either... nuff said...
Haz, welcome back... try to stick around a while this time ok, get's boring here without you!! I agree with some of what you say and also some of tank's rant, the sleep apnea thing is sketchy at best BUT it is JBS's policy and if you want to work there then abide by it, don't cry about it.
Daniel, good luck with you new venture, stay safe!!
ok, my one post here every 2 months is over... please, let's at least try to act professional for a while. (I did say PLEASE)

    Ready... set.... BLAST ME AWAY!!!

First off maybe you should read every post on here and especially the ones I have posted. I do not trash J.B.S. nor do I have any issues with them.

There are things that could be better and I voice my opinion. I also get good mileage, good pay, and don't have too many things to complain about when it comes to J.B.S.

I have said many times that they are the best company I've worked for but know that it doesn't take much for a good company to become s%#$ if you let the wrong people make bad decisions.

Read posts before you assume something about someone who posts something you may not agree with.

You send detailed messages explaining everything, that way if they say you're late for your ppl you have proof stating unforeseen circumstances arose and you're covered.

trust me man, im over it...personally dont care anymore..when you say i had time to get things done? and yes your right i waited till i got home..and my every intention is to go back to tanks where im respected as a driver and not treated badly or be known by a number...and if you all think making .30 mile + .10 per mile for perdeim and making $10.00 per hour after 4 hours is good money. well let me tell you all something that pay scale is a joke. just like the current jbs fuel "bonus" that even a bigger joke.and if you all dont think that there is serious problems going on at jbs you all better wake up and open the eyes..i will further say that your pretty little driving position will be hell in a years time...and you ask i say that for...hmmmm lets see. the company is trying one way or another get the experienced drivers out..and get more students in. and why? a student will new the same route for even less per mile. why in the hell do you think the company is offering a $3,000 sign on bonus for? its not because life is so dam great at jbs carriers..all the big companies have to offer the big sign on bonus or they would have no one to drive there tractors..but anyways...as to phone calls all i will say to that is im not the only one that says communications with anyone in greeley is a joke..and as for calling yea, i think they should be calling to check up on there driver, and there equipment..but since being home on dec 19th and the only phone call i get is from the fleet manager,, just tells me they dont care...i have sent qualcomm messages and left voicemails and still no reply..you can say its because im sitting here bashing the company, even back when both parties where in the honeymoon phase they still lack in communications. but none the less the bottom line is they have some serious issues.

so the bottom line here is you all are right i had time to get this done...but none the less i couldnt afford to take days off, and besides i had to wait for the insurance to kick in...so now im outta work with medical bills for a nonsense test..i would highly recommend jbs changes there policy on this sleep crap, and part of the recuirting should be telling the potential driver that they are going to measure for bmi and or neck size, that would of stopped alot of drivers from going to colorado..but just another thing that jbs isnt honest about..and from what i have heard im not the only driver sitting and being side lined from working over this sleep crap....i have heard that there is somewhere between 20-30 drivers down right now for this bull&hit sleep crap..
by the way hazmatt or whatever he calls himself will be banned again...since i have been on here hes now on his 3rd name..just a matter of time and he will be gone again..

I have one observation to make. If it's all about the money (testing for sleep apnea) then logocally JBS and all te other money hungry carriers out there would be making all drivers take the test. I believe Crete did do that for a while. Singling people out by some physical criteria that may indicate the conditio actually argues against the case that it is just a money game.

Of course, they could just be trying to get rid of certain drivers for other reasons.

when i say its all about money, its meant not on trucking side..its on the other side..i posted a link in here about a article and in that article it was stated theres too many people that can greatly benefit from this..and in my own opinion is if it was in the eyes of safety and what " best for drivers" then the dot and fmsca would make it so EVERY cdl holder would have to do this test...as it is there is no set way to determine if a person has this retarded sleep disorder...meaning the doctors have told dot and fmcsa that skinny and in perfect health can have sleep apnea. and as well as fat overweight people..so my point is its not a fat or overweigth issue. as the doctors have said skinny and in perfect health can have sleep apnea too. so with that the companies are using the 17" neck or 35 bmi as a standard to test...and yet that skinny F@#& can have sleep apnea as well..so thats why i say its about money and not about safety..if it was all about safety then ALL CDL TRUCK DRIVERS WOULD HAVE TO BE TESTED..i wasnt singled out..as this was the deal from day one with jbs...i was givin a 6 month card only...till have get this test done.

    Yep, I'm a newbie . . . does that mean I'm an idiot, don't know anything? Maybe . . .

But here's a few cents worth of thoughts anyway. Hell, its a public forum and I'm laid over.

Tankerman: Dude, get a life brother. Sorry you lost your job, but it sounds like taking ownership and accountability would go a long ways for you. JBS requirements may be overly stringent compared to other companies/DOT, whatever, but you don't have to work for them. There's hundreds of thousands of other carriers. If JBS can't keep up with the market, they'll either be gone or forced to adjust. I'm sure they have a bunch of idiots making decisions . . . all I know is that those idiots have somehow made enough right decisions to get this far. Hell, maybe in two years we'll all look back and say "####, Tankerman saw the writing on the wall before anyone else, JBS does suck!" The Mayans may also be right in that the world will end on Dec. 21, 2012 . . . or maybe the Mayans just ran out of chisels and rock, or quill and papyrus, or whatever they wrote on.

If you're so marketable and hirable . . . why have you been out of work so long? I called 5 companies including JBS, and every one of them was ready to start me within a week. I also talked to several tanker companies, yep, they pay more/mile, but you also get a lot less miles/week. So Just curious.

Sleep apnea: I don't know what's going on, what to think. I had a BMI of 34.5 and neck size 17.5. If my BMI was just a tick higher, I'd have to do the sleep test . . . so be it. If I want to avoid it in the future, I guess I'll have to make sure I lose a few of the extra 60 pounds I'm carrying. My blood pressure 3 mos ago was 159/92, over the DOT limit. I ate less salt, started exercising. Now I'm 130/80. Regardless, if drivers can't see that insurance companies, DOT, etc are trying to eliminate the reckless or unhealthy and unsafe drivers, don't know what to say. I guess you can be stubborn as much as you want, but my guess is that you get your jollies from kicking brick walls as well.

JBS: I don't know if they are the best company to work for or not. I did as much research as I could, and made the best decision I could. There are some things that they don't do well, some things they do great. I've met some a-holes there, I've met some really good people too. Sounds about right for most environments. In a few days/months/years maybe I'll find that JBS does suck. But you'll excuse me if I not take the word of some of you truckers that are on their 5th job in 5 years.

Experience: Yep, experience counts . . . counts a lot. Now let me ask you a question, who's the better basketball player; LeBron James or Grant Hill? Blake Griffin or Kwame Brown? Everything being equal, experience is a tie breaker, but personal ability I'd assume trumps much of experience. Lets not forget, we're truck drivers. Yes we're worthy of respect (more than society currently gives), yes it's an admirable profession; but there's also a reason why millions of uneducated, inexperienced people get jobs as drivers.

Anyway . . . that's my newbie thoughts. Discuss and dissect as desired.

I hear and understand you, but if I was a trucking company looking to make money off drivers I's set up my own sleep test facility and charge every driver for the test. Don't worry, we can finace that interest free over a year and take it right out of your paycheck. See that way they get a piece of the pie. I think Prime has their own set up and if so I'm sure they get some of that money. That's the point I was making, I wasn't disagreeing with you.
