I'm glad that it is going well for you. Werner, since the beginning has been my "worst case scenario". I'm sure the experience with them will certainly vary from person to person, but the overall volume of negativity on the internet combined with the lowest pay scale, and the sub par "take it or leave it" presentation by their recruiter, and of course the advice I have gotten from those who have been on the road on this forum and elsewhere has just caused me to shy away.
But I do sincerely wish you the very best of luck and hope it works out for you and will look forward to hearing how it goes for better or worse.
As for me. I am now looking at a 1/23/12 orientation with Squire. This can change... But I am pretty comfortable with where I am.
Thanks all for your help, as always. -
Hell Id go to Swift before Knight. Knight seems to be a big time bottom feeder.
otherhalftw, Jarhed1964 and 123456 Thank this. -
You'll care when you can't get hired because a company sees Werner on your resume. Alot of companies out there have Werner and ex Werner drivers on their blacklist. But who knows you might love it so much at Werner that you'll make a career there.

Werner is everybodys worst case scenario!

I surely hope your only talking about Werner. Where do you honestly expect newbies to get experience? At the companies saying they need atleast 6, 12, or 17 months experience? If you can find a small company, or a non-BFI company that will hire someone fresh with no experience please tell me their #.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 11, 2012

& here in lies the prob, that i see anyways on forums; experienced drivers tend to either 1) think the research & learning from your own mistakes is best or 2) have fogotten what the new insurance & fed regs put any company, BFI or not, through for rookie drivers......in most cases limiting a rookie s choices. & its hard to know how to find a company that will provide training the rookie needs that is not one of the bfi companies.
drives instead of helping rookies by pointing them in the right direction (from my research on here), for the most part pick apart a noobs "unfounded" knowledge with out explanation of why they are doing so...which always leaves the rookie feeling attacked & often times discouraged, it seems.
so i will reiterate the previous posters Q to see if we can get a lil more compassionate answers to it, as i think its one they should start most these threads with
;

Once I see that a poster is one of those "crusty old truckers" that does nothing but pine for the good old days of trucking and look down their nose at newbies I pretty much ignore them.
A little chop busting is good, clean fun, but at the end of the day sharing knowledge with new members of the trucking community should be good, clean fun too.Jimmeyjack Thanks this. -

It's always been this way. The FNG is historically and culturally required to endure the cold shoulder treatment from the crusty old ones.
