I apologize, I only started a duplicate thread because the last post I could find about Service is from 2007 and I didn't find further information from anyone by searching. Also their website is vague. Most info you can get by calling, but I wanted to get the real perspective from a driver..

My questions are for anyone familiar with them or who drives for them..

    How many realistic miles?
How long do you realistically spend at home on average between trips? 34? 48?
Are you expected to be overly creative with logs?
I like to run, but with enough rest..

Thanks in advance for any info and thanks to everyone who contributes so much to this forum in general.. I love this place!

..Be careful on that snow-pack! Thank God I got through the 3 winters I did out there, with a couple of CLOSE calls.. Be Safe! :biggrin_2556:

Sunstate has ad on Craig's list Orlando today, expanding fleet, 10 trucks needed to be filled! Service I have only heard middle of the road comments lately, some good, some not so good.

They have both been around a long time,

and both have decent safety scores.

    Being in florida,

    they pay weakly....

yes I spelled that correctly !!!!

Yeah, haha, the Florida thing I can't help, pretty much stuck here for now. Sunstate and Service look about the same to me on pay and safestat.. and yes, they are decent on safetstat but both approach the threshold on driver fatigue, I guess in part because they are similar operations from the same area. At any rate, that could mean a couple things so it would boil down to how good their dispatch is and if their drivers are happy in general. Both are smaller companies I believe, so that can be a good or bad thing.
One company out of zephyrhills looks really good, on safestat and on forums and on equipment..
But I don't want to make a decision based on who offers a job first.. I'd rather not have to find out first-hand that I should've waited for the other one. Any advice on that situation?
What about rowland? Anyone know much about them? Home weekly if you want.. I really want to know how good these companies keep you rolling for that 10 days. 1 cent or 2 cents doesn't matter as much to me as how many miles. Gross pay per week and Can I run safe and get back to my wife with enough money to justify me bein gone. Might have to just go out there and find out.. I don't want too many job changes it looks bad. Any wisdom? Thanks

I think its still like that, if I remember correctly from my conversation with them. service too I think.. I'll make the commute for a decent company, doesn't bother me. Curious about Jlind, if you hired on somewhere and how is it?

Be careful when responding to CL ads. Many posts on here and I've personally seen ads that were NOT posted by the company listed and there are many scams phishing for your private info. Go directly to the Co website to apply. Good luck.

Also, hello from beachside! Who do you drive for now? I have been doing alot of research on jobs in our area. I start school in Palm Coast in a couple weeks. There are options. Especially for someone with experience such as yourself. PM me.

Still doing a small co. deal but not getting anywhere fast, no future but helping to pay the bills. I have talked to Sunstate and thought they were ok, didn't like the truck selection for 2 weeks worth of room....midroof 630's don't really appeal to me, Service wasn't looking last time I called them so I have no info to speak of there, I have talked with Fulmer as well as a few bigger places... so far i can't really justify leaving where I am but I will continue to look for something more appealing. Almost 2 years ago I had an opportunity to go to Calex out of Pa. and I screwed up, if I could undo that one I'd be on my way there tomorrow... oh well...
Heyl guys speak pretty well of them too but I can't say for sure, also Rowland seems to never have any openings which probably means they are the ones to get on with!! Too bad they aren't looking....

Good luck wherever you end up!!!
