The DOT cant put anything on your DAC. You new guys really need to stop worrying about DAC as not every company reports to DAC. Will you get a fine? Depends on what else they find wrong but you will more than likely get it wrote up on a FMCSA report.
-
IF you get a ticket it would be written up as a maintenance penalty towards your CSA points. That would bite... good question. Just make sure to fill out your daily vehicle inspection report. I know it sounds stupid but you could say "look, see it was working this morning" and show them the DVIR as this report is a legal document. They might have to take your word, not sure. Just fill it out at the start of your trip and not the end.
-
And you think because you noted it on your DVIR that every thing is OK its gonna make you immune from getting wrote up at the next scalehouse?

I had one go out on me in transit but I had a spare. At the coop they had me park I told them it was working this morning and that I had a spare. They let me change it there and once they saw it was working no write up no ticket just on my way.

You also can.....If any of you are that paranoid about DOT...Use your cell phone in the video mode while you pre-trip your rigs.....That's recorded proof and time-stamped to boot...
