I think it would be a good team effort on our part if we all copied and pasted some of these complaints against bad companies every time we read these posts. Then google the trucking company name, find their contact info and then paste it into an email, then send it to them via their contact us page. It seems to me that a majority of these companies are sub-par. Also, It is my belief that the companies that advertise all the time in magazines and so on, are the ones to stay away from. They have to keep advertising due to a very large amount of turnover. As long as they keep new drivers comming in, they don't care about the ones that are so overworked, screwed over ect...and thus these companies keep running busieness the way they want to. It's a cyclical thing that is happening with many of these trucking companies.![]()
Let the bad co's know that.. we know!

Sounds like you have it figured out. About 12 years ago I started avoiding companies that advertised in papers and 'zines. It was a good move.
But you still haven't figured out the larger companies actually get government money for each newbie they bring in. This means turnover is in their interest. They WANT turnover. They LOVE turnover. The only problem is they have to find a way to get some of their drivers to quit each month/week. This is easily accomplished by treating drivers badly. When a fed-up driver quits, he can be replaced with a newbie.
Plus, if a driver quits, the company doesn't have to pay his unemployment.
It's no surprise sensible, hard-working truck drivers get treated like dirt by their companies for no good reason. -
That's interesting....I imagine the smaller companies do not get the government grants like the bigger companies?

The jury's still out on the small companies. When I worked in Salt Lake, the bigger companies were the outfits with the outrageous turnover. The smaller and even smallest companies rarely had turnover problems, and if one wanted a job at one of thėse oufits, he'd have to get on a waiting list if he were even eligible. Some of these required guys have 2 and 3 years' experience as well. Yeap, they could be that choosy, as they were never desperate enough to settle for just any ol' driver who'd walk through the door and ask for a job.
I say this is true for MOST of the smaller companies. Some of the small outfits were rotten to the core and had turnover ratios per-truck that rivaled C.R. England Ad.
So...I'd say the smaller companies don't get the grants. The don't have the turnover because it's in their interest they keep all their rigs moving.
I suspect a company would have to have a certain number of rigs parked before it would qualify for a grant. An outfit would have to be big enough to have this number of trucks to begin with in order to qualify.
It could also be that a company would have to have a certain minimum number of rigs PLUS a certain percentage of those would have to be parked before tax breaks and grants started figuring in.
Not sure. I AM sure that some companies benefit from their turnover. They actually make money on turnover, meaning it's something they want. If they didn't want turnover, there'd be none. Or it'd be very little and not the 100, 150, and even 200% you see at some outfits. -
Tip, where can I see documentation on this money that the gov'y give large companies other than training vets? I have seen you post this several times and I don't remember seeing any links to see this info.

He can't show you the documentation. He keeps it all in his head where it's safe.
-
Probably under that tin foil hat so the gov't can't steal it!

Seriously, if it exists, I'd like to see it. -
You stand a better chance of getting the real truth on the Kennedy assassination.....

How about the meaning of life while we're at it?
