I recieved my cdl and didnt use it till nearly 5 months later, although i went with a local company who doesnt require that refresher crap. So you cant always use that excuse a far as getting a job. Driving a truck is like riding a bike, you never forget how to do so. If you forget then its not your gig, so i disagree with the refresher myself. Maybe after umpteen years sure. And for the record i started out no experience and landed a local gig haulin roll offs and dump trailers so its possable like many have said, you just gotta get your butt out there and do some conversating. Worse they say is no

That "refresher course" and "nobody will even look at you without 1 year recent experience" BS gets regurgitated so often that people get bad information.

As far as these mega carriers go, sure that might be true. But many LTLs, and food/pop/beer distributors dont require all that crap.

    MassHole Thanks this.

My thoughts exactly. I was nervous about all that no experince bs when i got my license till i got out and applied myself and seen how it really works with alot of local gigs. If you can drive then most of the time your all set

    Less than Truck Load.

Look for companies that haul doubles.

We did not create this new Trucking industry, all the new wannabe drivers created this crap. Stop hauling cheap freight, working for low wages. Dont blame us for something you guys are doing. You tell the mega companies you`ll do it, and then blame the veteran or so called crusty old drivers for not getting anywhere. :biggrin_2559:
