Even as a new guy I will have to say at the very least that rate would have been a very short back haul for me. If was my parking lot that would have been about 2 1/2 cars out of 7. Hauling frac sand that rate is less than half of we get.
This person may have no idea what we get per mile if they got the guy on USHIP. Most of those people using U SHIP have no used about trucking and just need one load delivered. I signed up with uship when I hauled cars and I will say people were always asking me to take loads for well almost nothing. But did I get mad and insult them .......well only once. Bad day. But most seemed to know nothing about trucking. So i just did not do it. Hell I never took one load for anyone on uship....glad it was free to sign up.
Honestly, guys its the guy who took the loads was deserves the heat. JB Hunt sent me an email and after FSC they were offering $1.67 a mile. So some guys must make money at those rates. But this rookie sat for 2 1/2 months making payments on my truck and trailer and I could have hauled that crap for JB everyone of these days. But did I hell no!
Nowo I start hauling again next week at $4.00 a mile and $50.00 an hour to sit. And I have been driving only two years!
So those guys who do it for $1.78 or so either get 32mpg or need much less money to support their family than me. Idiots.....now that does seem harsh but.most likely just broke and sharing a sandwich with the blackbirds at the dumpster. This is a sad business in many ways. I agree with kevin life is just too shirt for all this other stuff.
OK enough with that if you are a true shipper paying those rates shames on you. You are most likely rolling while a trucker is suffering.

Not sure what you are saying. You say that they showed up at the customer for verification and the customer took pictures then say the customer never got the load. Why didn't they take them off when they had them?

So how many trucks do you load as a shipper/broker? You have enough experience in loading trucks to know that higher rates are better service? I agree with using a carrier with a good record but they are all good untill they go bad.

Rick G, I am not sure why you keep bringing Uship into the picture, but this company did not come from Uship. They called after they seen the load on DAT/Transcore. It is an unfortunate circumstance that cannot be blamed on any other company other than Zink Inc, and of course ours for not throughoughly screening companies before they are hired to do a job. Just because one company has a bad experience with another, doesn't mean it is the same for all. We live and learn and try not to fall into their trap again!

The load did not show up at the customers location, the customer was forced to go verify that these were there generators at a different location. Zink Inc left the location after they had received the wire transfer, they still hadn't unloaded either.

My company loads alot of trucks on the average from heavy haul to LTL freight. Not a big company by all means, we are small and we care about our carriers, the drivers/dispatchers that we know when we talk on the phone with them. We have the experience to know, the higher the freight for the trucking company, the better the experience, in most instances. We had hauled the same type of load out of the same location going to the same location a month prior to this, never had a problem. This was a partial load, taking 16 feet of space, not a full load. Zink Inc scammed our customer into thinking it was taking a full load and then when they arrived at the location only to find out that the generators had been moved is when our customer started getting angry. I paid above and beyond to get this equipment delivered to the customer, the customer only paid the original rate. Zink Inc is the one who totally and completely in the wrong... That could be why they are not answering the phones for even their insurance company or for anyone else that calls them. They have already vacated and are heading for another location to do more damage. Yes, all carriers are good until they go bad, and you just never know when that is going to happen. But on the flip side, shippers and brokers go bad also, not just carriers.

Would that not be theft then? If the customer verified it was their property and paid the fee for hauling it then why are the police not involved?

I looked up the MC number you posted and found this company had NO Cargo insurance. Why would you contract someone with no cargo? You can verify it online in less than a minute before booking a load. Heres a suggestion I might consider doing I would call the local police and file a accident report for the damage to your equipment and say it damaged in a collision of some type Zink had. (they're not there to dispute facts?) I would then call the inurance company listed on the FMSCA site and file a claim.
You may or maynot get anything? But Zink may get cancelled in the process making them unable to operate. One thing for sure is you will find them a lot quicker.

At the time of booking, December 1st, they had cargo insurance. I have already been in contact with their insurance company and have already filed a cargo claim for the damages. The local police have also been contacted in both the shippers city and Zink Inc supposed location. I have also contacted the FMCSA along with the FBI and other agencies in regards to this situation. I have even talked with my bond company to get his input on this. I am detemined to do what I can so that maybe, just maybe I can stop them from doing this to someone else again. Thank you for your suggestions, I do appreciate them.
