TA has significanty higher priced fuel then any other truck stop. even ones directly next door. if it wasn't for better showers we would all be fueling at the independant hindu stations that have the cheapest fuel.
if you feel showers are a loosing proposition then remove them all and see how long you last with your fuel at $.02+ more then everyone else.

One of things that influence where I'm going to stop and buy fuel, have a meal, ect. is by how clean and expensive the showers are.In other words, if I don't get a free clean shower than i don't buy fuel or any items there PERIOD!!!!

Well....It looks like Mr.T/A-Petro representative lost interest as soon as he found out that not all drivers were dumb enough to swallow the truckstop doublespeak...Imagine that!

Here's my spin on this subject! In my opinion TA has the best showers for a chain T/S. I look around in the shower and see a large investment. I look around in the shower and see where my brother and maybe sister truckers intentionally vandalize T/A's property including the towels and wash clothes. I keep a boot brush and a old tube sock in my bag to touch up my boots. I don't use T/A's stuff on my boots. As far as the cost,i think it's reasonable for what you get. My approach to shower credits works like this,i buy my fuel in 50gal. increments. A little time comsuming but works for me. Lotsa shower credits. I can easily believe showers are not a big money maker, maybe even a loser. My big complaint is the same old menu at every T/A,why not let those cooks do their own thing.

if you get cost plus discounts from your carrier like we do the fuel has a significant discount off the pump price, example ta knpwxville, on 5-13-11 pump price 3.989 , my price 3.579
heck i got it for 3.47 at ashland ,va wednesday evening -
Yeah Admiral Merchants gets that for us too. I remember when Petro opened their ist place in El Paso on the south side of I10. It was easy for me to see at the time those guys(Petro) weren't going anywhere. Seems to me the 76 was east of there on the north side. Infinite wisdom of a twenty something.

too difficulty to control/track food costs that way. I could see allowing a range specials to choose from on the cooks part though.
