Best meal I ever had was in downtown Picayune, MS. First time I ever had Crawfish Etouffee and "sweet" corn, which was sweet, sort of a creamed corn with lots of pepper. Yum!

As for why people tell you to leave the CB alone, it's because there are so many hecklers, jerks and morons on it.

I actually had some guy heckling me because I'm female during an ice storm in Indiana once. I pulled off at the TA in London, OH on my way to Hebron. The guy pulled off at the same time and went to park. I was just taking a break. All the way down the highway, he was telling me, "Get back in the kitchen where you belong!" And, "You oughtta be laying on your back making babies." Among other more insulting things. As I was pulling out, he was still at it, calling me out by my truck. As I was leaving the parking lot, I told him to hurry up and get my dinner ready, I had work to do and I would be back later. Now, who's the pu**y?

He suddenly ran out of things to say when a few of the other guys jumped in to agree with me.

On another occasion, someone asked what town we were in. I said the name of the town and some guy got on and said, "She's a woman. She don't know what she's talking about." And then said a different town name. Few guys got on and agreed with me. So the jerkweed starts threatening me with violence. I moved from one truck stop to the other, where he was sitting and waited until he keyed up to see who it was. When I saw, I announced his truck company and number over the airways, "ABC Company 2345...sitting in the first row at Podunk Truck Stop. Did you want to came say hi to me in person? I'm at the fuel island looking at you." There were a few others who were looking for him and they thanked me over the CB. He seemed in an awful hurry to leave. However, I did mind my manners and thanked him for vacating that awesome parking spot for me.

Of course, there are times I have fun with it. Cruising past a truck stop where several guys are asking where the lot lizards are, I will say into the radio with as sultry a voice as I can muster in a breathless half whisper..... "Meee-Oow!"

And then not say another word.

Got some crawfish etouffee on my truck in the fridge right now from hometime. I've been eyeing it since I left the house. Almost brought some sauce picquante with me but didn't have the room. :biggrin_2557:

It's almost as bad as what you find written on the walls of truckstop and rest area bathrooms. It's sickening really. I rarely get on the radio, unless someone tells me thay I have strap dancing or something doesnt look secure. Or I am saying the same to anither driver.

90% of the fools out there will ask if she wants a date, if she has panties on, and other totally rude comments.
If you have thick skin then its not a problem
thats my answer to the post title.

as for listening to most on the cb. most are just entertaining themself on a long day. most also prefer the hate and discontent.

not many anymore will give smokey reports, or any form of accurate traffic info.

it is what it is. enjoy it for what it is.

Wow the old days when fcc made us register with tnem to use cbs, I remember as a youngster listen to the radio and hearing a driver lost in town and just telling to pull over and find the cross streets, then I would drive to him in my jeep and ethet have him follow me or take him to show him where.he needed to go, then stop and buy him a.meal so he didn't have to eat junk that night, they used to call me bill the goofy road reporter, or just" goofy.
On a side note I became a ham operator back when you had to know code, but then fcc stoped doing the code to get more people into ham, today ham is almost as bad as cbs i'm thinking that in a few mote years ham will be just as bad as cbs are.today, well I still listen to cbs I just don't say much on them unless I find someone decent to talk, they call me b104 cause I like using the D104 lollop mics by astics. Please forgive any typos, I hate not being able to use my laptop its broke, and fat, fingers were not in anyones mind when tnhey built these cell phones. Stay safe put there B104 said that 10-4

One reason would be that most of the time an answer to your question is "Wow baby; Cmon"

Ummmm to say the least. I came in on the first "NO CODE" when all you could get was Technician. To get Tech Plus= 5wpm, Gen 13, Adv 20.

To say the least... The "Elmers" was no more different than what is going on cb now to us NO CODERS....hmmm to think back..... I am glad I let my lic expire.... KC5HKV proof in point... 75/80 meters.... back then also slowscan would give you some interesting videos to watch to say the least.... Many biggots within those hams back then..... Also some NSFW videos/porn to be seen on slowscan.

Worst part about it. By the time I upgraded....These "Elmers" at session treated me like I was their long lost friend from 50 yrs+ that they haven't seen in years. Even though the week before... lets just say if you would have been listening in on the Natchitoches Repeater 146.880 you would have never guessed these was the same people cussing at all the NO CODERS. Heck I would have respected them more if they would have told me to F off instead of being 2 faced to me.

And to think by this time I had already acquired a DX50 for the mobile, had a 241A for the house(Best 2meter I came across), and still have the FT1000D still sealed in the box (Never opened it. And not for sale)
