i am confused, i read the article and dont see where ANY of the above comments came from....

People will use any excuse to make belittling remarks even if has nothing to do with the subject at hand. I would shrug and say "That's teh intarwebs for you" but I hear it all the time in Indiana, always accompanied by "Of course I'm not racist, but..." And often they are correct because they are bigoted, which includes much more than race.

Which is why my trainer with 17 years experience has not owned a cb for the last 16 years. Sigh.

 

Absolutely every race creed color and sexual preference drives crap. The discussion was about can haulers in western Tennessee. Pointing out that there are almost no mexican can jockeys and that in fact the overwhelming majority are in fact African American in and around the Memphis yards is not racist. Further most of these can haulers drive substandard equipment yet can be heard on their insipid ping boxds from Corinth to Earle and that those funds would do better to possibly maintain proper braking systems is a far cry from any form or definition of racism.

Now if I had said "Those eggplants can not drive because their 'fro gets in the way"" that would be racist. I do not think hair style or skin color has a thing to do with the crud running around those yards, rather I think it is a symptom of inner city raised dreg prevelant throughout that area. Shelby county is the sphincter of Tennessee and I would support giving it to Arkansas.

But back to your flawed accusation of racism. If he had posted the blacks were can haulers in Miami, I would correct him that those are Cubans and Puerto Ricans. In Chicago it is guys from States ending in 'stan and people who use no vowels in their names.

Pointing out simple demographics is not racism.


Now I'm sure your gonna come up with some twisted ploy that supplys imperial proof of my membership in the Aryan Brotherhood. Feel free I am quite positive about my thoughts and beliefs, but if making up fantasies about people you know nothing about makes you feel better go ahead.

 

Are your sure there African American? Do you know for a fact they came to America from Africa? If your born in America your an American.

 

One assesses O'Brien is Mexican and the other one assesses Nashville is Memphis in demographics.

I agree condo crusier there is just no way this thread will end well for any party. This thread does prove, however, no matter what we say someone will disagree and somehow find fault. This is the only problem I usually have with this forum. Just like the CB it seems some are just waiting to jump in and reduce every conversation to a word. Then explode about a word. Hell, you guys have the CB and some seem to fight on it all day long its this enough.

Condo the vast majority of cans moving around west Tennessee are into or out of the Memphis/West Memphis rail yards.


Pete just using what is prevelantly used. Irish-Americans have probably never been to Ireland. Doesn't stop them from turning beer green once a year, or from being called Irish American.I would agree at best first generation immigrants should have those titles. Every one else should be dehyphonated(?) . I will say however I am a Tennessean first, American second.Just me my loyalty lies with my State over the country as a whole.
