Hi everyone, which would you work for if given the option? Western or May? With Western I will be driving a box and traveling in the 11 Western States or drive the 48 states with Western with a flatbed? I am new to driving and would like the experience with a flatbed. However, with Western, the pay is small. Any thoughts?

run from either of those companies! you get to freeze or fry because if you over idle your truck you will be charged for it. hubby went thru 4 trucks in one night at may. none were road worthy but they tried to put him in them anyway. at western you will get screwed if you do any truck recoveries for them. i did a 3 week "adventure" on a truck recovery and only got paid $100 for the whole mess. it was supposed to be $100 per day. the truck was in crappy shape when i picked it up. i spent most of that time waiting for it to get out of the shop. they are INSANE!

Well my experience couldnt be more different then hers. i get about 33cpm, when i was with my trainer(1month duration) we NEVER went under 2500 miles, and he NEVER went to sleep when the truck was moving, they tried pushing team but he told terminal manager if thats what they want take him off the training program.... needless to say they stopped pushing us to run like a team after that call. my D.M keeps me preplanned about 99% of the time so i have a load waiting on me
Did i mention they gave me a 2012 freightliner cascadia? truck had 70,000miles when i got it. the oldest truck in the fleet are 2007's which are rapidly being replaced with 2012's, i love western express... i cant speak for Nashville but the terminal im based in (fontana california) is awsome. with western the pay may be low but it balances out with miles if you show your D.M you can run and BE ON TIME they say ALL WE HAVE TO SELL IS SERVICE, being on time is important im sure that's the case with every company not just western.
I pull a dry van i cant speak for flatbed division, -
Hey trucktime, good info. Where did you stay for oreintation in Fontana and how long was the oreintation. So all there equipment now is new? I'm thinking of going with them.

but I am not complaining, they try to keep me running. I am also on the vanside. -
