Waaaa! Waaaa!
1) Dude you knew they had shetty trks and they ran slip seat b4 you even left out for your fist load.
2) smaller companies tend to bend the rules, since operations runs the company and not safety dept.( smaller companies tend ti believe freight pays the billl(theirs and yours.)( I will agree. ).with 20 yrs exp. your should have been through this.
3) small companies have shetty benefits. Why would u want to run smaller anyway unless you want freedom? Then want to beach about it.
FORCES ME TO RUN ILLEGAL.. What a joke. Obviously you don't like the job any so get the balls to say NO! Whats the worse they can do? Don't beach here about it..
People beaching about making money while I took a job with elogs. What I would do for a cpl 800 mile days!!! On a side note, and probaly for another thread I drive more fatigued now on elog than when I was driving whenever I wanted. Make less money now and more worn out!! Wow!!Chinatown Thanks this. -
When I worked in the oil field, we had a few dispatchers and some of them were a pleasure to work with where one or two were absolute nightmares. Irate sea cows who seemed to have no regard for the drivers they sent out to collect loads. I remember uttering the following words (or words to this effect) to a dispatcher after I had told her clearly that I was out of hours and would no longer be legal to work after my last load.
"I understand you have lots of loads on your board but let me explain this to you clearly. It is not my fault that your company is not trucked up enough to deal with the work load. It is not my fault that the batteries are backed up and keep me waiting in line for three hours to unload. It is not my employer's fault that I am limited by the hours of service regulations. I have told you that I am out of hours and your response to demand that I do one last load will result in the following. I will be speaking with my employer to notify him of your attempt to force dispatch with no regard for HOS. I will be speaking with the field safety supervisor to notify him of same. I will be calling the terminal manager tomorrow morning to speak with him personally about this.
You can think your lucky stars that I will NOT be doing the following. I will not be calling the ministry of transportation to report your attempts at forced dispatch. I will not be strongly urging them to audit the carrier with a focus on your load sheets and records in particular. You, today, do not have to worry about being fined and fired for gross violations of very strict rules that are meant to keep me on the road without killing some one or myself. I don't have to worry because my logs are legal but will your records show you to be encouraging that for all drivers you dispatch?
In short, goodnight, stuff that oil up your rear end and be very thankful that I'm in a good mood today because if I wasn't, I wouldn't have told you any of this. I would simply have hung up on you and made the calls I told you I'm not making today."
Never had a problem with forced dispatch again. All I ever had to say was "I don't have the available hours to complete that run" and that was that. Pretty darned gratifying!tracyq144 Thanks this. -

i have no issue with fudging 15 or 30 minutes or to set myself up for a load but the second a company try's and force me to do it i'd throw the keys at em and tell em to shove it somewhere not very pretty.
YOU and only YOU are the captain of that ship and if u feel unsafe it is ur responsibility to make sure that truck doesnt move period.
Noone can force anyone to run illegal (its hard to shove a gun through a quallcom or a phone) basically what it boils down to is it is ur hand on the pen writing on the paper.
moral of the story is quit your whining, man up, and grow a pair and tell them to shove off it is ur license. If not dont come crying here cuz no one here is gonna feel sorry for you for when u kill someoneChinatown Thanks this. -
I have read so many of these posts about running illegally, and have done it. I have also said no before. Never put in my two cents, but will this time. No one forces anyone to run illegal. It's a decision the driver makes. Look at it this way. How many people have a job where they can tell their boss NO, and have backing all the way to the white house? Think about it.

That's not true. I have worked for Marvin Ward Trucking as well. I always had room for my stuff, never had to run illegally, and never had to slip seat. The equipment was maintained, but as every trucker knows, equipment breaks down, regardless of age. I can't count how many "brand new trucks" I've seen sitting on the shoulder waiting for repairs. I stayed out from 5-15 days at a time. Never had any unusual problems. Only those who don't know or follow the rules have problems, and that's with ANY outfit out there. Stop your whining and go flip burgers.
Chinatown Thanks this.
