What is the dumbest thing you have ever heard a trainer say? Whether it was to you or somebody else, post em.

We get yearly ride alongs with the safety goons. Last year during mine, my "safety trainer" told me not to drive in the right lane, it is dangerous. He told me to always drive in the middle lane on 3 lane interstates.

I told him I only do that when Im passing or in a heavily populated area where there are frequent on/off ramps, and as soon as I get out of that area, I get back in the right lane.

He told me the middle lane is the "path of least resistance".

And remember, he was the safety guy, so he wanted me to drive in the middle lane going the speed limit.:biggrin_25513:

I told him to save his safety drivel for somebody who cared, cuz I know what Im doing.

Makes sense in a car, not a big truck. Most states have laws that you have to yield to faster traffic anyway, so if your going to be doing about 65 you'll constantly be moving over to let someone speed past you.

Well it is. Right lane is too much of a hassle having to watch for merging traffic and adjusting your speed because people aren't paying attention.

I always wondered why you guys never get out of the left lane. They must tell can haulers in LA the same thing too. Even at 2am everyone is in the left lane going through the city, makes it nice and open for me. I've made it whole nights in the right lane never even having to slow down for a single merging vehicle. During the day time I don't fault anyone for doing it though.

I think the dumbest thing my trainer ever told me, actually that he asked me, was how many tons does the truck weigh? He asked me as we approached a sign regarding weigh limit listed in tons. He was actually a good trainer overall, but I had to laugh at that one.
