I plan to take a set of dumbbells in my truck with me when i start out next month driving long haul. do many of you lift weights in your truck? If you do, what kind of chest excercises do you have enough room to do?

Well I have a freightshaker with a condo sleeper. Its big enough to do curls inside but not big enough for any chest excercises. I usually use the dumbbells a lot outside the truck at the truck stop. For my chest I do pushups and standing chest flys and well as curls and standing shoulder presses. Sometimes I do lunges with the dumbbells. I also have a jumprope. Every now and then when I feel myself getting tired I will do a set of 10 on the curls while driving to keep the blood flowing. Hope this helps

    Jmans Thanks this.

Make sure they're secured- the last thing you want in winter driving is a dumbell in the driver's seat.

I mean if you turn over on a slick road.

Those weights will do some damage.

Get outa that van, get into a flatbed and you won't need those weights. You'll exercise muscles you didn't even know you had.:biggrin_2559:

I do an improvised bench press by piling a couple pillows under my back while lying on the bunk. Then I can get my elbows below my body.

I used to carry around dumbbells, but have been using the shake weight for a while and like it.

Watch the video. I think it actually does the job better. Especially if you follow the regimen that they provide with the weight. If your muscles feel no workout after using this thing, then you are doing it wrong. It is inexpensive and stores well compared to dumbbells.

Ah... but the difference is not having to fold up or put on a tarp in the rain, sleet, or snow, along with getting dirty and sweaty so that I offend everyone around me. It doesn't make me any more money, so I will stay with a van. Less hassle. Working out in the truck is relaxing, stress reducing, and not miserable. I don't have to mess with chains, binders, or straps and it doesn't affect my running hours.

Been there, done that, and prefer to maximize my driving time on the logs instead of playing around with the load. Each has their own preferences and there is a need for someone to do flats, livestock, etc. Guess I am just getting older and have done so many things in trucking that I prefer to take it easier.

I suppose that the argument can be also made that if you really want the ultimate workout, then go into the military and select all those neat programs and specialties available. Also, have been there and done that, and have no desire to be that miserable ever again.

Did that shake weight come with a free pair of panties?

I'm just messing with you no offense is meant. The theory behind the shake weight is sound.
