Leaving a roll up door open when driving down the road is very hard on the rollers, hinges and track. Common sence should kick in on this one, why would you want to bring any more attention to yourself from the DOT by leaving the cargo door open legal or not?

This is one of the first things I learned when when I started. That's why I knew there was a reg.
If you ever work for Central Transport, many of the trailers the doors fall off track, get in a bind, hang down etc. The only safe way to move them is down and latched. Maybe some duct tape.
Drivers ram them so many times with forklifts, they can't keep em fixed. Some of them, the only way to open them was with a forklift.QuietStorm Thanks this. -
Good idea to keep rollup doors closed but it is a pain closing them if a lot of stops

Well D'oh how else are you going to load the trailer?

I would laugh hysterically if I witnessed you chasing the creepers and screaming obsenities at them. Wonders if they would run from you? lol

Sometimes when I dont feel like doing all my deliveries, I just open the door and cruise down the interstate for a while. That usually eliminates about half of my deliveries for the day.
Its OK though, Im union.mstrchf117 and DirtyBob Thank this. -
