Just got a call. Interview is on hold until tomorrow. The recruiter was "called away from his desk" for the day. Upside: More time to do more research and write down some more questions.

You think my comment was negative? Hell i thought it was positive. Guess my thoughts dont come thru clear in writing.

Trucking companies all have their best intrest at heart not yours. There is always things you will not like with any company, with every company they will be different things. You just have to.find the.one that fits your needs and attitude best.

That said.i.do think packards comments are negative. I have had drivers and one bad driver flapping his gums about his descent can cost you a lot of drivers in the long run. Its amazing how happy drivers are untill they start talking to other drivers. Personally id fire him in a minute

Your first year with any OTR company will be a mix or really bad days and only slightly bad days. You will be tested and will get frustrated. You'll eat bad food, want to kill your final trainer, see every part of the route structure, and probably forget the way back to your house. Oh, and you won't make any money. What you make of it is almost entirely up to you. Like many have said before, suck it up and stick with it for the golden first year. If you do, you'll have many options open to you.

Exactly. Right down to the words "what I consider to be"...it's different for everyone. Well put.

...and that's fine and dandy. And solely for clarification: My discontent did not come after talking with other drivers. I've been researching a job change for nearly a year. The only talking with other drivers I've done is comparing recent experiences at SNI and those of drivers with companies I was considering.

I won't deny that I can be quite blunt at times. Oh, well. It's not everyone's cup o' tea. But I think I've also been very even-handed in my comments. There are some things SNI does (particularly for a large company) quite well. Others, not so much. It's those "others" over the last year to eighteen months that have caused me to search elsewhere.

I believe that when a driver makes a negative comment about a company, there will be some drivers for that company that will actually take it somewhat personally, as if I'm challenging their choice of company. They take it as an affront to their intellegence or common sense. There is a sense of loyalty, for whatever reason, that makes them react to any adverse comments in a defensive manner. That's OK too....

As Companyman himself stated, you have to find the company that suits you best. SNI used to be that company. They no longer are for me. Nothing any more complicated than that.

I'm sorry, everyone. I didn't mean to start a s***storm. I'm having one of those weeks (different thread for a different time).

Anyway, I'm pleased that I at least have an interview with Schneider. I have my questions ready, and I'll hold back nothing. The recruiter is calling me at 9am Central Time. I really hope all this that SChneider is offering is the truth. Wish me luck.

The thing about the "lies" you hear people tell about is this: They usually result from either a misunderstanding of something a company rep (like an instructor) says, failure to read every word on each piece of paper put in front of you, or not meeting some standard set by the employer. When this happens, the potential new-hire driver comes away from the experience with a bitter taste in his mouth and a willingness to blame the company, starting with telling anyone who will listen that the recruiters "lied" to him. And most of it results from ones own failures. Often, we have totally unrealistic expectations based on a glossy marketing brochure or what someone writes in a public forum.

If you listen carefully to what the company says and carefully read everything put in front of you, and don't put too much credibility on what you read on TTR - remember, it's as much entertainment as information - you will have an accurate picture of life with Schneider. If you don't, you will be disappointed and might feel they "lied" to you.

Good luck. Schneider is a good company. :biggrin_2558:

Hence all the research and notes I'm taking. I've also talked to a couple of Schneifer drivers in the past couple of days. They've never of heard of this position or perks I'm being offered, but they admit they don't live in Florida.

But they also told me that Schneider does have pros and cons, like every other company out there, but they are pleased overall with the company. Like companyman said earlier ( and I'm sorry I interpreted this wrong), find the one that best suits you. Positive attitude, an open mind, and like you said, denali, READ EVERYTHING!

    Interview is in 20 minutes.
