Hope all is well with you Hindsy, I have been out of the truck now for about a year working in the Graphic Art field.... I just posted to my instructors back at Roehl in Marshfield. I made it to a LOCAL FLEET DRIVER home every night but the money was not there... My first UPSTATE NY WINTER had storms every Friday morning for me..... (LOCAL ROADS ) are not PLOWED !!!!! so I plowed them..... With a 53' trailer filled with Beach nut BB food at 40k lbs.....
I now make triple the money per hour and work 7 hrs a evening..... I just could not take being away from home for extended periods of time..... I am here in Saratoga NY 12020 if you need me.... I90 is just down the street so to speek.... 40 mi away..... Let me hear from you Sir! Stay safe and GOAL!![]()
ROEHL BOUND... June 14th... Relief and excitement!

Well I am searching. My time at home is wonderful, tho it seems to be a little more than I need. Don't get me wrong I wish I could hang with the kids all day everyday! But money makes that impossible. Been tossing around heading back out OTR. Just not sure its right for mama unless I can make it so she can stay home and not have to work. My being away is easier for me to deal with. Her having to be a single parent is more then I want her to have to do. Thinking about running a triaxle dump, but not sure when they will start hiring for the seasonal work. The other options seem to be getting out completely, but just not sure.
On a good note got to be here for my daughter's 4th and my son's 2nd birthdays. They are getting so big! -
Sorry the current gig isn't working real well... I am just trying to get my feet under myself too. I am starting next week doing a hub run for Advanced Auto Parts, just a few hours every day, and I am also finishing up my classes to get my passenger and School Bus endorsement, and I have two companies lined up to sub for, and will be working almost every morning and any afternoon I don't have to make the parts run. So I will have a nice 4-5 hour empty spot in the middle of my day, I am thinking about getting my inspection license and openning a small garage and turn some wrenches too... Since I have been out of the truck I am a changed person, no stress, no worries, no troubles. It is so nice being home, I would not go out OTR again for 80K a year!!!
Treefork and thelastrebel Thank this. -
Man I'm happy for you and a little bit jealous. If I could find a non driving job that could support my family I'd be on it in a second!

I know what you mean there brother! Been 2 months since OTR and i dont miss it one dang bit. It took awhile to get through all my training (3 weeks) but im finally out on my own hauling fuel. Its great, cause driving is only a small part of the job itself.
Pay is good.. slow season ( jan - feb ) avg is $750.00 a week take home
busy season ( march - nov ) is avg about $ 1000.00 to $1300 a week take home. usually burning through your 70 hrs in 5 to 6 days lol..
I will take that any day over OTR!!!!!!

All in all this wasnt a bad company at all to get your foot in the door, id do it again if i had to. But being a local O/O now I wouldnt be doing this without roehl.

Hey Hindsy, have you ever thought of driving a bus? My brother works for the city driving a bus. It's a decent job for the most part. He started out making about $15/hour, gets all holidays off, and will get a pension for life after he has been driving for them for 20 years. The best thing (in his situation) is that he gets home every day, as opposed to being an OTR trucker.
If your city has a bus service you might want to check that out. Good luck buddy. I hope you get yourself into a workable situation. -
zangief theres tons and tons of options around minnesota for O/O if you have the money for your own truck.
