Never used a truck with electric apu. I belive thats the system that uses batteries not sure. If thats the case i seen a truck with that system thing i didnt like about it . Used up alot of storage space with the batteries. Also im sure the batteries are expensive.I seen a truck that had the batteries stored under the bunk at carrier they were replacing them because the shop installed liquid acid batteries which was hazardous. So they were switching them out with the gel type.

I plan on bringing my crock pot and microwave . That one of the ways i save money. On a t660 top shelf behind passenger seat take the trim off and put your microwave there use the tv strap to hold it down works perfect.

Not exactly sure that is the way all electric apu's work, but was wantin it to be the kind that recharges itself from the trucks engine. I know it is less maintenance compared to fuel run apu's but some complained electric not being as powerful as fuel apu. thanks for the reply!

When I started at ACT they had a truck with electric apu and I really wanted that truck because it was white. The electric apu only last a total of 8 hours before it has to be charged again.Takes a truck 3 hours at idle to charge the batteries back up.I thought about the summer and how it it gets.Got to sit there for your 10 hour break, well that means your going to have to idle the truck.I decided to go with the fuel type thermo king.Might be a little more to maintain and run but you got it whenever you need it and as long as you need it.

I have a tripac that runs off fuel. The unit is electric when running bunk heater but when you turn the APU switch on, it will cycle when the batteries run low using fuel. Which, in a 10 hour shift, you will only burn a little over 1 gallon. It is a pretty reliable unit.
