Flatbeds seem to back easier than vans to me.

TD...get a spread axle with no dump valve and that wont be true...lol but there does usually seem to be better visibility around, past, over and under a flatbed. I have a good friend who works for Melton. He has been there probably 5 years or so. He has talked to me about coming there. But Meltons hiring area seems to fluctuate a little. Every time I call, they don't want anyone from South Dakota. Of course, I have gotten used to hearing recruiters tell me they aren't interested, based on where i live.

what i've noticed so far, besides the fact that i seem to be doing a lot more pull throughs and straight backs then when i was in van...lol...is that a spread ale handles 1 of 2 ways, both similar to a van.

1)Backing up is like backing with the tandems on a van slid all the way back, well, at least as far as your rear axle. Seems to me that the trailer pivots on the rear axle. (most times at least, I know it doesnt do it all the time).

2)when pulling forward, the rear axle will follow the path of the front axle. Watch it and you'll notice...if your front axle is 2 inches away from a curb, you'll think 'oh no! i'm gunna pop that curb with the rear!"..and you'll watch it glide right past it, 2" away as well.

Now I'm not an expert, and have only been pulling a spread for 6 months...so i may be wrong. These are just things I've noticed

I guess Melton still wants at least 2 months OTR experience?

You won't get one. You'll get a 10 spd more than likely. Since you're in Tulsa, you'll probably be getting a new one. They aren't all they are cracked up to be. I love mine, but the power is $h!+. When I'm up a hill, once I drop to 12, I may as well just make a sandwich and drop it to 7th. I'm going nowhere quick.
