    Hello Owner Operators,

My name is Eric. I am writing to see how many O/O are using a computer logbook program and how many like the programs and which ones are more popular than others. It seems a lot of drivers out there may have the wrong notion of computer logs. Many seem to think it is an Electric Onboard Recorder. Those who are using logbook programs know this is not an EOBR. Thank you for you time and have a good and safe day driving.

    Eric

I use Drivers Daily Log program . I like it alot, no fooling around drawing lines, does the math for you ,and you can see at a glance where you are on your clock, Its not an eobr , but I run legal so it really would'nt matter, other than I don't want Big Brother in the truck with me, don't need a baby sitter.:biggrin_25522:

I have been using 'puter logs for 2 years and highly recommend them. The math is always 100% accurate, the program will show you when your 11, 14 & 70 run out, how many hours you have available, and when you print out your daily log it is perfectly legible (sp?). You can also have the log form show the company's log page if they have "company" log books for you to use. You will need a printer. Go to logbook.com for additional details and a free demo version.

Having said all that, I was forced into e-logs back in December. Now run both as I don't trust the system. Tends to crash from time to time. I suspect the DOT won't give you a "pass" bacause for system failure.

Let's say you get pulled over for a DOT inspection and the officer asks to see your logs, how does that usually go?

I'm also voting for Driver's Daily Logs software. Saves a ton of time and headaches. When you do your pre-trip and catch up your log first thing in the morning you need to print off the previous day's log and put your signature on it. I put mine in a 3 ring binder. If you do not have the previous day's log printed off you can (and in many cases will) be considered "not current". So always have the previous day's log printed and you're good. I have yet to be inspected since using DDL but from what I hear DOT officers are always impressed by the neatness of them and usually only give a cusory glance. It's been around for several years now and likely you wont ever run into a DOT officer who hasn't seen them before.

With EOBR yes, this is not EOBR and will be considered "not current" if you don't already have them printed. Always have your previous day(s) printed off or you risk an unecessary avoidable ding on your CSA 2010 scores. In the past most DOT officers would allow you to print them off. From what I gather, more and more, they're not letting it slide. You want to take that chance?

When i running, i was new at logs, i never seen one before, so i trained myself, got into alot trouble first few years, lots money out the window too, then i went to crst, they put me through kirkwood collge, and learned too drive truck all over and in there was log book class, so i did that, wow, i was shocked as too all the things i was doing wroung, that worked well for a couple years, then ex wife found david borlan log online, so we paid, it was neet, show the red part were i need too stop and green wheen i could go again, i printed it out , copy too paper and sent it in too payroll, since i'm not good at math this was good program for me, my problem was dispacther's, i call in every morning with hours, tell em what im doing that day, i ussally did this while eating breakfast, anyway one night i was in sleeper, bing, qual-com goes off, wanted too drop my load and pick up next load asp, this was night dispacth, fired up pc , looked at my daved, nope i still was 3 hours in the red, i replyed back , no can do, got into a big argument, call up my boss in am and told him , he said i was only truck in area, go get the load and relay yours, and what about last night, he said he didnt know, good talking there between dispacthers, but yes i really like david borlan e- logs, they even saved me at the weigh station , becuse my paper was not current too last duty , but i just left like 3 hours ago at truckstop , so i went out ,print it , handed too him and said good too go, make shure your caught up before you leave, i just said ok, :yes2557:

Just print your logs at the end of each day. If you're stopped just print the current days page showing what has transpired up to the point you printed the log.
    It's a beautiful thing.
