You get paid a daily rate for each day you are logged into the q/c. They work it out to about 450 for week 1 and 2, then it goes up some. Been a while since I had to think about this, but I think I am right. If not, someone on here will correct me.

Hey Gold Miner,
You wouldn't happen to have Kevin as a DM would you?? If so, tell him what's going on. He's really good about making things right.Last edited: Jan 23, 2012

One other thing, GM. That schedule may not be your mentor's schedule. It may be the customer's. Wouldn't be a very good plan to make a load late because you want off the knothead's truck. Tellin ya, it wouldn't impress me much to have some guy miss a delivery because his panties are in a bunch with his team member. It doesn't look good on a new driver.
You have two options. Request a different mentor. Or, suck it up and stay with this clown, knowing there are other options and possible solutions available. If you choose option two....stop complaining about it and just deal with it. It's your decision. -
You are right Injun, I will stop complaining about it. I have another plan that I will not discuss here. I will just do what he says until time to put in my plan..
Thanks for all who responded. I think I have a solution, just need to finish talking with some people... -
I have read through this entire thread anticipating this post. And your previous post. I am currently on day 4 with my mentor and it has been nothing but disrespect, rudeness and minimal instruction and information. Everything i do, iam made to feel very small. My mentor lacks the personality and qualities necessary to train absolute beginners. By day 3 we were arguing because no matter how honest my mistake was, he felt i was not adhering to instruction properly and would overwhelm my communication with his criticism.
Im confident that most of their mentors are experienced drivers but underqualified trainers who are simply graciously incented by swift to run a labor scheme.
Good luck and God bless. As another trainee concurrently sharing a smilar experience id love to be sympathetic ear for the duration of your training.bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
talk to your DM and you might be able to get a new Mentor
-
As said to GM: Contact your Driver Services rep and request a different mentor. There is no way you can learn anything when you are made to feel intimidated.

I agree with your assesment. Also you will find if you point out the negatives about Swift you will be slammed at the terminal and on this board. You would not believe the number of drivers I have overheard talking to their bank about bounced checks, financial problems and other things at Swift. Just sit around the terminal and listen. I have made a decision and things will begin to look up for me. My new plans will be in place as soon as I can afford to execute.
-
That's just it. They're sitting around the terminal b****ing instead of accepting loads and working. When the freight was flush, they refused to haul "short" runs or didn't bother to save money for the yearly freight crunch. People who are out running are not complaining.
Too bad you have an extremely poor example of the company. You've been given a way out, you're refusing to take it. How is that Swift's fault? -
Thank you perhaps i will. I know i am not a perfect driver or person forbthatbut matter , but I know my crucial training experience can go better than this.
I am already at a point where i am uncomfortable to even speak. The tension distracts the learning process. Which is not good.
Ill tell you this though. If i ever end up in a mentor position....i will never forget this. I would hate to cause anyone to feel so lousy for 6 weeks away from home.
In the meantime i am thankful for this opportunity and im glad that i am even this far. Worst case scenario i have a lousy 5 weeks lol.
