Just a quick question. I know that if you've gotta flat bed with any sort of debry that could possibly fall off you guys could get a ticket or an OOS. My question is what about the van/reefer guys that have snow/ice buildup after a storm in the north? Can y'all get in trouble for that? Sorry I meant guys and gals! :) :biggrin_25519:

Seems I read somewhere about some states cracking down on this. I think Canada has a law about it too.

Yes. Many states, especially in the northeast have laws about that. PA is one of them but yet none them have come with a way for us to clear the top of the trailers. And alot companies either are to cheap or don't have the room to buy one of those neat snow remove things that you can drive under.

Oh ya, PA's law also covers lazy four wheeler drivers. Amazing how many I see driving down the road with a little spot cleared so they can see.

It is now part of the agenda of federal DOT. Just read it recently. I will see if I can find that article again and post it here.

NJ has a law that says the roof has to be cleared off of snow that piled on while parked, but of course they have no place or way to do that for most all drivers.

A local walgreens distribution center has one of these fancy rigs, its two poles with a v plow mounted to the top with a few coil springs for pressure. First time ive ever seen one.

So we park ALL the trailers that have snow on the roof until it melts. Someday in... March?

NH has had a law on the books for a few years now about clearing snow and ice from vehicles. Covers 4wheelers too. Came about after a fatality from a slab of ice/snow coming off the roof of a box trailer in southern NH. As a flatbedder I carry a ladder and pushbroom, shovel, etc. I am baffled why some folks think taking off down the road with a foot or more of snow and ice on the roof is OK. I am REALLY baffled that now that there is legislation requiring it be cleared some folks want to be told HOW to accomplish it!!

So you propose we all carry 14 foot ladders and climb up on the roofs of our trailers? Naaaa...ain't gonna happen.
