Of course you don't need his services, because you dot all your Is and cross your Ts . You probably never had a speeding ticket in your life either because you never speed. Me, I just haven't got caught in awhile

I've never gotten a speeding ticket either. Why would you need a lawyer on retainer when you could just call one up if needed? Useless expense.

These threads are always funny to read being young and both a company driver and having history in business management everyone needs to realize a few things.
    1) lawyer on retainer is useless unless retainer is cheap (>$2000) and your a hot head .
    2) quitting is always touchy and must be done politely
    3) companies lie to you all the time, if you want a good recommendation then lie as well

I always give 30 days notice and letter is always the same, cut and paste it if you want. Also remember to those saying your "let go" by giving notice the. Play the game and file for unemployment if terminated before your resignation date. This annoys the company but they can't do anything about it and is still within professional boundries. NOW THE "DEAR JOHN" LETTER TO EMPLOYER

    (SIGNITURE HERE). (DATE HERE)
    (TYPED NAME HERE)

    To Whom it may concern,
I would like to thank your for allowing me to gain the unparralelled experience I have gathered while working for (COMPANY NAME). I have enjoyed the opportunity working both for (COMPANY NAME) and with (SUPERVISORS NAME). I cannot stress the exceptional value I have gained or how much I apprieciated working for such an exceptional company. I apprieciate the opportunity given to me and the constant wisdom and and continuing education on the industry I gained while working under (SUPERVISORS NAME). However, this letter is to give you notice that I will be leaving the company for other opportunities in 30 days (DATE THAT IS 30 DAYS FROM FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY xx/xx/xxxx). I cannot stress enough how enjoyable the time I spent at (INSERT COMPANY) has been. I am sure that due to the professionalism, respect, and efficiency demonstrator by the other employees I had frequent contact with that (COMPANY NAME) will continue to be a top company in the (TYPE OF WORK THEY DO). I look forward to putting the skills I garnered from (COMPANY NAME) to use and am positive they will be valuable skills throughout my career. Thank-you again for the opportunity to work for you, and I look forward to the continued succes of both myself and (COMPANY NAME)

    (SIGNITURE)
    (PRINT)
    (JOB TITLE/TRUCK #)

The reason for the double SIGNITURE and date is so it cannot be missed. Send this to Human Resources USPS Certfied mail, SIGNITURE requires and you will be fine. The letter leaves the company feeling good, your supervisor feeling good/looking good to the company, and let's them know you apprieciated the opportunity to work for them.

Well do to a family issue we needed an lawyer. And true I haven't needed to use him in years but will be again soon as my mother will be passing on. And when it comes to Business and Money do you really want to pick Joe smoe out of the phone book or rather someone you have done business with for years.

Sounds like you need to become a lawyer.that way you can charge people retainer fees and not do anything. I'm going to start a retainer fee business
