My company doesn't provide PrePass, so I just pay for it myself($16.80/month). It's worth it to me, and I can write it off, so not a real big deal. I sure wouldn't choose my employer by whether or not they have PrePass. That just isn't a deal breaker. The good CSA score however is important.
Best company to start with as a student that has prepass and a good dot rating.

Spend some time getting a little more education around here before you start lecturing guys who have already been there done that... -
Yeah what Kansas said
-
Well kansas that you and your million of years and im not lecturing just because you been there done that don't mean jack. Things change its not the same when you did it back in the 50s. Prepass is what i want a company to have and a great rating the 2 will keep you out the scale house me i want work for a company that don't have the two.
-
If you're gonna hang around you'd better learn to have a little respect . Act like a fool and these guys will show you to be one .
Get some help on writing your posts . First you write you want PrePass and a great rating and then you write you want work for a company that don't have the two .Last edited: Jan 26, 2012

I don't have prepass and the only scales I ever get delayed at are the WB I-10 scales at San Simon, AZ. That line can get long! All the other states I frequently travel through (NM, TX, LA, MS, TN, AR, OK, GA and AL) they are either rolling you through or closed. I've received two inspections recently in AZ, a level 3 last November and a level 2 earlier this week and neither one was at a scale, they were roadside.
Oh and I passed both on logs and paperwork, the level 2 found 3 minor issues with the equipment. -
For the OP.
Pre-pass and a good CSA are only 2 things to consider. Pre-pass would be one of the last things....for me.
More importantly. You should look for companies who take care of their equipment AND drivers.
A "good" CSA score can go in the tank, in 24 hours. ALL it takes is one bad audit.
Current CSA scores are not reliable !! The data base is incomplete.
As an example. My current company has a weak score in the "fatigued driving" department. Not enough to warrant an audit. But the basis of that score is 2 years old.....before the implementation of the current electronic logs.Nashville Driver Thanks this. -
It's weird because Pre pass should be on the bottom of your things to look for list. CSA??? Well that could be a lot of thing. According to the CSA my company was involved in a fatal accident, a drunk drive clipped the rear mud flap and went over the side. If they have a real bad report then I would stay away from them, but your responsible for your own safety not the CSA.

Also, the scale on the highway can determine I'd you're overweight or not, as in my case I got an overweight citation 1600 pounds over on my drives. My co driver told me (subsequently I find out he lied to me) about weighing the truck for legal. Pre Pass doesnt mean a free ride with the scales, if the scale on the highway determines overweight you will get red lighted and pulled in, it happened to me in Missouri at the border.
Praise god2012, learn the fundamentals of weighing your truck and trailer, there is no easy way out of it. -
