Callcom, sp? Lingo

    There are allot of abbreviations I have noticed when my husband talks about directions from the callcom...some of them are EOR or D/E...does anyone know what these mean and also if you know anymore Abbreviations and what they stand for it would be much appreciated if you would list them! Thanks!:biggrin_2552:

    Have him check his fuel book (big black binder with all kinds of info). Should have a list of common abbreviations used in mac-19 directions.

    Even though those directions are rarely correct... I keep goin places where there is no directions available...

    What kind of people you got working in the FB division or you are making questionable comments again.

    Rarely correct? Really? Maybe you rarely read the directions correctly.

    Prime is working out so great for you that they rarely give you correct directions. FB division aside, even while you were training in the Reefer Division they rarely give you correct directions.

    I would say that the vast majority of the directions are correct, and it isnt very often that I have to submit corrections other than to clean up and clarify the existing directions.

    Ive got to say that compass directions, and street names should always be a priority.

    Counting stop light or signs is fine, but sometimes these directions havent been updated in a couple years and all it takes is one new light to screw up driver... especially when no street name is given.

    Examples: "Go 5 SL TL" ugh, no. "Go 5 SL TL Howe St." better.

    Also compass directions are really helpful, like N, S, E, W. That way if a driver is coming from an oppisite direction they are less likely to make a bad first turn.

    Example "I81 N X12 EOR TL" "I81 X12 EOR go W"

    Which of those two are better? The 2nd. Why? Because 90 percent of all exits have 2 off ramps. Usually one for each direction of the highway traveled. Typically the EORs face oppisite directions.

    So in that first instruction above: If a driver is on I81 S, he exits and TL. If both off ramps are direct or both are loops than a L turn will send the driver in the wrong direction. In the second case the driver knows that if he was traveling South on I81, he would have to be a moron not to know his compass to make the correct turn from the exit, irregardles whether its a loop or direct ramp.

    Landmarks and distances are ok, but they need to be specific and when coupled with a street name... even better.

    Most directions are really good, and if I have a problem I call the customer first. If I cant get ahold of someone, I then piece it together from google maps.

    Always make clear, simple and to the point directions when making corrections.

    I would hope, that if a driver found out that the directions where out dated or wrong, they would update them for the next driver. This way less drivers would have problems finding them.

    Yes, a few pieces of info does make the directions alot clearer.
