They loaded the wrong trailer and I understand that I can't really feel 10,000 lbs in a trailer compared to mt no biggie when I got my truck they had me bring a pup forgot where got there a day early dropped the pup grabbed another I called first to confirm when I got to berwick Chris was like u brought the wrong trailer lol I was like my bad I called to see if I could drop it and grab an mt being a day early and all he sent another driver to go back and get the correct trailer lol
Idk y u got fired for that it's an error #### happens I understand maybe charging you for the fuel but getting fired for grabbing a trailer they told u that was loaded any way I still think 2 noobs is a bad idea team for 1 I wouldn't be able to sleep the first day with a rook driving even though im a rook and then after he drives now I'd have to drive after being awake it makes sense money wise but not safety wise id say make training longer like switch trainers every 6 weeks or so like roehl phase 1 2 3 I think swift is 240 hrs I mean 150 really isn't much I don't mean to say 500 hrs because every new person wants there freedom of there own truck I don't think an extra 100 hrs would hurt
And training pay should be better for both parties involved would help out alot I think there are great trainers then there are some that suck

true BUT so did he for NOT CHECKING a UNSEALDED TRAILER....! the reason he's not still working for usx is because HE QUITE he wasn't fired for it
i ALWASY look inside a unsealed trailer (as every driver should) to see what, were the load is, if it needs straps, and to know where to set the tandems. i've had shippers give me the seal & bol and when i hooked to the trailer and checked the load (before sealing it) found it had the wrong load in it...! how did i know..? because i LOOKED at the bol and LOOKED at the load BEFORE i sealed it. what if it had a 400gl drum of paint and they forgot to mark HAS-MAT on the bol....??? who get the ticket..? the driver (no placards) and it's alot more tham $500
if it's SEALED when you hook it and something is wrong O WELL not my prob. but they have every right to charge him the 500 miles for NOT CHECKING A UNSEALED TRAILER..... sorry it happened -
they should be going after the customer for fuel cost since they gave the wrong paper work. the customer in the wrong too
yea but they was charging him fuel cost. and not paying him for the trip. why stay
if us xpress was a good company they will still pay him for the load.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2012
the one and only Thanks this. -
As a professional driver, you, and only you, are responsible for everything having to do with a trailer you sealed. No exception.
Do you have any experience? -
yes i have exp. yes the driver is responsible for both truck and trailer.

I LIKE this suggestion, but they should pay extra extra for the students I have a blast with and extra extra for those students who don't quite get it no matter how many times you tell/show them something or the students who can't keep track of which road they are supposed to stay on or the exit they are supposed to take.
I don't run team with my students because I feel it is very important for me to be accessible to them at all times. I will doze off in the jump seat (but I'm still aware of what's going on). Out of 6 students I only slept for a few hours during the day with 3 of them because I had full confidence in them.mtnMoma Thanks this. -
Thank you.
So Flood, how long have you been out there driving?
If you took the time to read thru all the issues I had with so called USX trainers you might see there really wasn't a lot of training going on.
SheepDog stepped up and help me out to get thru this 150 hour behind the wheel. To be honest I don't remember to may loads in the first 2 days where and if we did drop and hook or what. I do know that we did not do any live loads those 2 days.
Then he and I teamed for two week and did something like 14,000 miles in two weeks. So as you can see we ran. Most of the drop and hook that was going on was during the day, and that was when I was trying to sleep so that I could do the driving at night.
Am I complaining here, nope not at all, just trying to tell what was going on is all.
Then comes the upgrade:
What a freaking joke. Take a written test where you need to know the Circle of Service, and how to read a map and do some simple math, and understand how the HOS works.
Back Test, or should I say what backing test??? They took 3 of of us out to the parking lot to do some practice backing. Well gee that was the test I guess because we never did anything else.
Road test, o'boy this was a tough one, can you read the signs, can you merge into traffic, make sure you can keep the trailer on the road a between the lines.
We get back and USX says write you drove 20 miles in your log book and your done. So here we go, USX teaches people how to LIE on the log book.
Now we get to my first load with a customer. I am told seal it and go. I am in a new truck, not the same 2010 FL 10 speed this is a 2012 Pete 8 speed. So I do as I am told, seal the trailer and pre-trip it.
Sorry that I am not a super trucker that knows everything there is to know about trucking.
So before you keep telling me (Craig) that I need to own up to my mistake and take ownership of not looking, I said a long way back that when ever possible I would do that.
Was I wrong with how I did things as a New Driver, no I think not. Was USX wrong in how they to care of this, your dam right they did. I will not work for a company that steels money from the employee.
Congrads on the first weeks pay Matt. It sounds like you are doing much better.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2012

Okay! again as said before I'm new here and to driving in general have choosen USexpress cuz from all I've read seems to be the best to start out with and maybe stay with. I also gather and obviously so that as with anything you will get out of it what you put into it. So I'm leaving for Springfield Ohio in a couple weeks and will do my best. I do have one silly question and please don't bite my head off! I have long hair and does anyone know or think that this will be a problem . I am well groomed and usually keep my hair pulled back when working etc but if it's goin to be an issue would like to know a head of time and I surely don't want to cut my hair if I don't have too also cuz in the end they may just boot me out for whatever reason . No the hair isn't a big deal like I said it's a silly question but I want to do my best to look presentable which I usually do. Thx!
