Little question about axle spreads on the drives for Ontario.
Somewhere i'm sure I have a book with the rules but can't find and the search seems to find mostly trailer spreads dealing with the us.
This past weekend I was in a freightliner recently bought by a buddy and it has a huge spread axle.
This allows more weight on the drives correct?? If so anyone able to give the difference allowed?
Thanks and sorry for crappy cell pic.

That's a pretty big spread... I don't think I have ever seen a tractor with a spread that far apart... I have seen tractors with a little bit of a spread but that is a huge spread.. Do you know what the spread is??? 8ft?
-
Tridem that lost a few parts?
-
72" spread>It's not common but you do see it occasionally especially on pre-SPIF specced trucks.
-
alot of the beer trucks used that spread, and its common on ready mix trucks
-
That's about the only place I have really seen a spread like that is on the ready mix trucks.... I haven't seen it on the beer truck tho... -
72" is the maximum tandem tractor spread in Ontario, and you can run in the area of 41.000 to 42.000 on that setup.

Right on, thanks.
From what I was told it is 70" so maybe 72. Have to take a tape out to confirm though. -
Did you ever get out to measuring that thing yet? Curiosity has me now, I wanna measure the spread on our Volvos and my truck to compare! Spread on a grocery cart is bigger then the spread on my little truck though haha
