    What that galaxy be a waste of money or is it a good radio to run in the truck. I want a big radio without having to open it up and add to make it big

    It's a good radio, nothing wrong with a Galaxy...But you can get a Cobra 29, and a little 2-pill amp for allot less cash, and walk all over that Galaxy any day of the week...And have money left over to spend on a decent antenna, your choice of Mic's and a Steak Dinner for two!...

    Need? Need he says! Nobody needs a CB radio. I'd say it is because he wants one!:biggrin_25523:

    Now my two cents. If you want to be "loud and proud" "JJD" is giving you good advice.....unless you want the broader range of channels the export radios offer. Echo is nice if you know how to adjust it, but I wouldn't pay extra for it or add it to a radio that didn't have it. Don't care for "annoy toys" either.

    galaxy 98vhp is a descent radio but i still like my cobras .I use the uppers and lowers mostly on the galaxy .

    I don't need a big radio I just want one. I'm not a fan of the toys either. I just like big loud radio with a little echo and little reverb to make sound like a super trucker lol of course I need the talk back so I can hear myself lol I like that set up its perfect for a 4wheeler. What antenna you running?

    I run a General Lee and a Midnight special 700 1x4. Does pretty well, I love the pre amp on it, almost 10db gain. Running a 102" steel whip with a 6" riser. Near good as it gets SWR. Gets out pretty good.

    stock cobra is ok.. audio is ok.. stock galaxy audio way better.. having more watts does not make you louder.. clean modulation does..a 2 pill box does not make it louder... top gun mod and audio compression can make it "sound" louder..
    I run what most ppl call a big radio.. lol..it takes a big truck to haul it around...lol
