Well I guess you could start here on these forums and read the horror stories of what alot of these drivers make.I already listed a few of the BFI's,theres plenty more.I was doing a reset last week and talked to a young man with 8 mos. exp. driving for USXpress. He'd been sitting there 2 days waiting to get a load.Told me after getting 80 dollars advanced to him the previous week his pay check was 65 dollars. He had only been able to run around 1100 miles that week. The week before he said he ran 1700 miles and collected a check for 225 dollars. The poor dude was #### near in tears.Had a wife and a baby at home.
That guy seemed to me like he wanted to work as hard as he could but because of the BFI company he was at he was getting the shaft. If you think these BFI company's are paying decent wages to their drivers,You should talk to a few of them. The guy was smart enough to figure if he could just last 3 more months,he would have a chance to move somewhere else for better pay.The BFI's have a turnover rate of 125 to 150% what do you think happened to all those people?

.22 per mile wouldnt get out of bed for that much, thats mexican pay
-
Yeah no kidding.Once you figure in HHG miles, its really about .18 per mile Obama's paying more than that to sit home, watch Ophra and eat cheeto's.
-
$.22 a mile? I thought $.26 a mile six years ago was a rip-off and that was as a brand new straight out of school newbie. Those who say they pay practical miles are actually paying zip code to zip code. It's a lot better than HHG, but still about 5%-10% than actual miles.

some companys are just greedy
pretty soon we will be driving just to say we have a place to sleep

I prefer to look at it being "some truck drivers are just plain stupid". They sign up and work for carriers that pay sh_t>They fall into these get rich quick lease purchase/share cropper plans because they're dumb and they don't put a pen to paper. Any time anyone here asks about the LP they get a resounding "NO, DON'T DO IT" but they continue to ask questions and look into it because they are smarter than the thousands before them.
The carriers would raise driver pay and make LP plans more equitable if there weren't so many sheep coming through their doors. -
The problem is you can complain all you want to about it, but it won't change a thing. Not until there is a real, genuine driver shortage. The only ace you have in your pocket is to say "I quit!". But there are hundreds of newbies and other drivers out there that will fill your spot in a second and the companies know it. So, why should they care? We get paid pretty much for the easiest part of the job. All the other B S we have to put up with is usually free. They have the greatest scam in the world going on at most of these companies. It's no wonder you hear these drivers loosing there minds and going berserk, you can hear them all the time on the CB.
When I worked in the normal world (Pre-trucking) I would wake up in the morning and be ready to bust my butt to make some money, the harder I worked the more I made (I worked construction) now I wake up and the amount of money I am gonna make today is dictated to me by some load planner or dispatcher whom I have never met, and goes home to their family every night. They could choose to give me lots of miles or just let me sit and collect dust, why should they care? -
Wolfy,I agree it wont change anytime soon.If the economy takes off in the next few years alot of drivers will bail out and return to they're old jobs that paid alot more.Maybe like you with constuction.Another hope I have is that a lawsuit will put an end to the deceptive practice of cheating drivers out of the real milage they put in,If they're paid by the mile or as mfgm is paid by going to an hourly rate. It's funny how companys like walmart, fedx and alot of local delivery companys that pay by the hour and have little turnover and good safety ratings.
