We've been in school now for a bit and we've been told what to write in our log books. In short, what we've been made to sign our names to is false and forces us to 'give away' drive time and maneuvering time for nothing. Is this how it works in other schools?

We were told we would learn how to falsify our logs. We were not told how, and it finally dawned on me that I'm ripping myself off. We are informed that our log is a legal document. Meaning what I've already signed away is gone. No recourse.

Now the hours I've logged say I've actually driven or otherwise.

Your school is teaching you to cook your logs?

What kind of fly by night back alley school is this?

Send copies of the altered logs to the FMCSA and explain what is going on . Then tell the school they have voided your contract with illegal procedures . Falsifying logs is a felony and people have gone to jail for it .
Everybody cries about this but nobody does anything about it .

This is a community college. Aren't I culpable now that I've signed those logs?

Like I said, this is a community college. I drove for 45 minutes one day and was told to put down an hour and a half. I drove for around fifty minutes the next time and was told to put down 3 hours.

I am being cheated out of driving time so they can kick us out early without any recourse. They now have the 'proof' they've fulfilled my contract because I signed the logs. This was before I understood what was going on, of course. I'm a student after all.

you should never falsify your logs period. I can not stress enough the penalties for doing that. CYA and log it as you do it.

Too much is not being indicated here. Were you in the driver's seat? Perhaps being instructed by your instructor? If so, "all time spent behind the wheel..."

I drove from location X back to the school. I was behind the wheel. I was told to log it as three hours. It took less than an hour easy.

All of our time behind the wheel is rolling time, we're on public streets. I've never needed any directives which were not just spoken as I was driving. Certainly not anywhere near two hours of it!

I believe the FMCSA it about the best suggestion that I've gotten so far.
