Yes, it will work, but depending on the model it probably doesn't have any truck routing on it. So it will route you the same way it would in your pickup.

To use the dezl effectively, you need to have correct truck specifications put into the unit. We use the specifications that you put in the unit to determine which roads you can go on. If you are driving and the GPS notices that you are approaching a part of the road that is below the specs of your truck, we warn you. If the bridge ahead is taller than your truck, then we won't warn you since that would get annoying to have pop-up warnings that frequently.

Your pick-up truck will work in your semi, but it won't have the truck specific routing information and points of interest that the dezl provides. It won't know how big your truck is and will route you as if you were a car. This could route you down roads that might put you at risk.

Another "correction" to look into is speed limits. We have a rand mcnally that show limits but in areas where trucks are at a lower speed it doesn't show that. If it will be a true truck gps it should reflect truck laws not cars.

omg i have a few choice words for this fella. I have the 5 inch flatscreen nuivi thing and its a pain in the #####. To take my finger and swipe across the screen is so irritating because it lags or the map just goes wherever it wants and it randomly selects places that it thinks I want to go, when in reality I just want to look ahead or see where a road goes. If you were to take the garmin and compare just the smoothness of swiping your finger across the screen to google maps on a mobile device; hands down garmin would loose. Its not just about smoothness its about the amount of frustration that builds when using a garmin.

Why can you not offer a download program to switch your car gps to a truck gps? Its not rocket science sir, So charge $100, I would pay it, but instead because you dont offer a truck gps download I would rather go out and buy a completely different gps from another company because I wont buy another garmin because the option is not available.

being able to input your own route would be amazing. Most of us have to follow certain routes and the gps just goes wherever it wants you to go. Being able to have a screen to that says "Select Route" and then just simply touching a road would be amazing. Come on man! this is easy stuff.

We were talking about the 465T. I have a roughly 11 foot high truck. I leave it set to 13'6" to see what it will do and I've had it that way since 2009. It routes me under 12' bridges with it set to 13'6" is what it does. You don't have that information in your database and with no way for anyone to report things like that to you, it will be a very long time before you do.

Does the dēzl support the following?:

If you cannot get to where you are going, from where you are, I would like to know why...or be able to route me up to a point and then tell me, vs just refusing to route.

My GPS (in some cases) will not route me from point A to point B and will not disclose why.
Usually its a weight restriction near towards the end of my route. But I have to fiddle/tweak my settings
and weight/length etc to try and get it to then route me.
I don't always know the reason it won't route - as it won't tell me... :biggrin_25521:

It would be nice to know what the issue is and if I can override it....
I can go about my way instead of saying "NO ROUTE TO DESTINATION".

I would suggest you come out with a truck gps which is like the one on my telephone.
I can speak the address and it gives me the option of traditional screen or google earth!
Google earth is awesome as I can see what I am around and see my shippers and receivers!

OK,I have only been doing this for 8 years,-3 without a GPS. I would fight to the death if anyone tries to take my Garmin 465T.

In the three years I have used it,(THE 465T)it has only done me wrong 2-3 times, and it wasn't serious. If anything,I get so comfortable with it,it was MY fault,as usually, but not ALWAYS,I did not cross check with my Atlas.

It is the best thing since toilet paper & Viagra, and least in my world.:biggrin_25525:
