Common sense is severely lacking if you think someone should just jump into a truck without any training!

    Scary indeed!!

The Government says he's good to go.

    He's driving a truck......not curing cancer.

    Pretty basic.

If driving was a "skill" that required exstensive training it would be a trade,it's not.
You can cry all you want on a forum. At the end of the day the U.S Government says you're "unskilled" labour. Yet non of you are willing to do anything except come on a forum and lash out at some guy who just got his ticket. My attitude is not the problem here.

Guys who cannot read or write and barely speak english are out there driving.

This forum and the like protect these drivers here from ridicule based on their lack of education and grammar skills. Make a remark about someones grammar or spelling and you get turfed or warned, right? Lambaste a guy who gets his license and that's cool.

Typical trucking ######## and you guys can't figure out why wages are going backwards.

People are bagging on the company that hired him and is willing to send him out without training. If you think everyone should be sent out without training, then I am willing to say that you're a moron, or at the least, ignorant about what constitutes a safer basis of knowledge in regards to driving.

Ok... Let's through this situation at you American cobblestone! You are heading north and this unskilled/unproven driver is heading south on a 2 lane, hits ice, panics and breaks. His truck moves into your lane coming at you head on. He tries to correct but his foot is still on the break and he takes you head on!! Or how about this one... you are in your 4 wheeler and your family riding with you and this guy takes your... I don't even want to think about it. I guess it will take this type of event to help you relize that this is a very dangerous thing that this guy is about to do. Have you ever driven in NY?

With all due respect, I fail to see where the "no training" comes from. He passed his written AND driving test and has EARNED his license to drive a truck. This means that he has been tested and deemed proficient in the proper and safe use of a truck. Now he is going to go with a "trainer" to learn the specifics of the work that this company does. I'm just not seeing a problem here.

WAGES GO BACKWARDS as a RESULT of companies cutting their PER MILE costs by hiring BEGINNERS at less $ than EXPERIENCED drivers. Their competitors then lower their RATES to compete , resulting in more DRIVERS likely gettinga wage cut.

If the guy said "Hey...got my first run it's to Florida!" Instead people hear "New York" and everyone has a little stroke.

This post wouldn't have gotten the attention it has.

GISQUID....Grow a pair! New york is just like every other place. No different. If you think it is, you shouldn't be driving.
All that BS you listed about a new driver doing "this" and a new driver doing "That" and hitting me. So What? It goes on every day out there and isn't restricted to new drivers.

A truck could come around a corner with a guy in it that has driven for 40 years and the same #### thing could happen, when a truck breaks loose....it breaks loose. A four wheeler can even take me out.....just like the guy in Heampstead Ontario that hit a van that blew through a stop sign. If you think experience controls a situation you are mistaken.

HEALTHY DRIVER.....He has a license,he's good to go. Unfortunately you seem to fit the definition of a moron better than I do.
You seem to want to bag on the companies to train drivers when it's really not their legal responsibility. Once the driver arrives at their door....he is licensed and deemed proficient to drive a truck. The Government says " he can legally drive alone all by lonesome". Get over it or do something about it. If you cannot accept something for what it really is then I can't help you.

If you feel the need to vent......go talk to your politicians.
Your opinions don't count for #### all here.
I don't make the rules......I just play by em.

This is the problem with drivers. You all want to ##### to each other, but don't have the balls at the end of the day to actually go and do something about it. You all know what the problems are in the industry the question remains WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT!!!

To the OP.....keep us in the loop. If you have to run into the city across the bridge don't panic, take it easy and in stride. Take care and enjoy.
