    Constantly scan the horizon, ie; look far enough ahead for any changes in traffic flow.

    Drive it with the attitude that its not about how fast you can get it their but that you can stop it in time if you need to ! Kinda sounds the same as following distance but Im referring more the mental frame of mind not just physical distance from the vehicle ahead.

    Expect other drivers to pull stupid stunts and keep enough room around you to avoid them when they do. Also, think about various scenarios and figure out a way to respond if they happen.

    Slow down around turns, you dont know what around the bend.

    Always be ready and cautious when cresting a hill. The traffic may be stopped just on the other side. Similar to rounding a bend, as other driver said.
