I am grateful to find a community willing to share and advise fellow members. My name is Matt and I have been pulled into this industry to help my father-in-law start a trucking company. Oh man, I feel like the little kid who jumped into the deep end of the pool for the first time.![]()

Haha its not that bad although the learning curve is pretty high. But having said that most is common sense and paying attention to what's going on around you. And planning aka trip planning is a skill but you always have to be willing to change it on the fly when you have to.

Kujo, you are not kidding. My head is ready to explode from trying to gather info. I thought my Father-in-law would know these things, but he doesn't. I sent him on a trip last Friday, not knowing we needed a ton of brokers or shippers to use, and just got him a run back for this Friday. I know I will improve with time but how long? I just don't know.

Persistence is the key in that scenario.

That seems to ring true. You should have seen me beating my head against my desk on Wed. I had set everything up with a broker and at the last minute they said " Oh, you have only been in business for 3 months. We can't work with you till after 6 months".
