Are most new trucks fitted with internet access or is this just my imagination. I was wondering if I would be able to use my laptop while on the road?

trucks are not fitted with internet, meany truckers including myself have mobile broadband internet threw there cellphone provider.
some trucks are fitted with satellite communications from terminal to truck -
air cards and cell phones my friend. And some truckstops have connections that come through your window.
-
Do truck stops ever have wireless internet?
-
I use my iPhone, it does everything I need.

Its just your imagination. You can have your laptop on your truck with internet access, but it will be on your dime.

Yes most pilot, flying j, ta, petro, and I think loves have wifi but it costs about $20/month and speed is atrocious during peak use times. I tether my smartphone to my laptop and it works pretty well. It's not the 30Mb connection I have at home but it's good enough for web browsing.

I use a Verizon router. Couldn't be happier with it as far as mobile internet goes. I'd rather spend more and have it everywhere including dirt parking lots and sitting in a dock.

If you have a smartphone, you can get a program called EASYTETHER that will let your puter and cell communicate and use the data side for internet... Works like a charm!

I have a verizon mifi card (using it now while waiting for my 70 hour to hit midnight to gain extra time to make it home). It works great.
