It seems most trucks have hub piloted wheels; Would those centering pins/sleeves for the studs still provide a benefit in this case?

The ceramic beads are small like bb's. Use 10 oz per tire - inside the tire. The centering pins that I like are called rimnuts. I use 3 per wheel (in a triangle) and leave'em on, replacing 3 flange lugnuts. Your tire shop can get them for you. I only do this on the steer axle. I started with new Bridgestone 280's, cleaned the wheels real good and removed the old weights. Drives better than the last two sets of spin balanced steer tires.

Here's what I use...$12.00 per tire. I have it in 16 tires but my dealer installed some liquid stuff in my steers... seems to be the same.

Warning...this is a long wordy video... it may make your head hurt to hear it all!

Centramatic and Balance Masters both recommend pre-balancing NOT be done per their FAQ sections.

    Interesting......

P.S. i looked at the EQual video; Does this stuff work good for you? Wouldn't it be bad for the tires?

Been using Centramatics for 12 or so years, beginning with a KW that had a shake that seemed to defy the service dept at-then KW of Atlanta (another story!). Talked with the very nice fellow that was head man at Centramatic; he took a good deal of time with me on the phone and explained how their product worked, better than competitor, couldn't cure all problems, and if I didn't like them they would take them back.
They are on all wheel ends now and will be for me!

I think you should balance when mounting tires so the rings aren't trying to overcome a large amount of imbalance; I think they have 22oz of balancing material inside.

Smaller ones didn't seem to work so well on my F-250, however, but they were willing to buy them back!

That's funny because Centramatics own sales brochures and their displays at virtually any Speedco say the exact opposite and recommend spin balancing before installation.

Works great... no shakes and I've been using it for about 13 years.

I started using it after a tire guy installed one of my centra-matic's wrong and damaged it. I couldn't afford another (of course it wasn't HIS fault) so I put Equal in and it has served me well. I keep a few bags in my truck in case I blow a tire and need to replace it.
