As an independent, what is a good percentage of the gross I should expect from a broker?

As a lease operator with my own trailer, what is a good percentage of the gross using their authority?

Also make sure you get up front money as some brokers may not be on the up and up and might stiff you on the load. Though I think the industry is getting better about bad brokers. Been a while since i heard, but throwing my 2 cents in. Check on accessorial pay as well, ie detention, loading, unloading, lumper, is it included or paid extra. Make sure you get everything that you are entitled to.
