Ok, after being royally screwed in every way possible by CRST, my husband is ready to quit and I don't blame him. Only 23 cents a mile ... he was getting *about* 4-5 hundred a MONTH, minus the cash he needed to eat or buy groceries. He figured it out and he got LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGES! SHEESH.
Lots of other stuff happened, but my question is this. Hubby thinks that he has to do six months or the he'll have to repay for the school? He didn't even need the school, he already had been longhaul driving for years and had a CDL, but CRST insisted he go.
The LAST THING I want to be stuck with is a final SCREWING by paying CRST for schooling he didn't want or need ... if he should quit before six months is over. Anyone know the scoop?
Don't go with CRST unless you enjoy slave labor!!!!

If he went to crst school. Then he signed a contract for 8 months worth of work.
-
I was going to say who was twisting his hand behind his back forcing him to sign on, read the paper work, and read the fourms, and go to a truck stop and ask drivers. Homework makes for happy driving jobs.
-
The contract is for 8 months. That includes having him drive, earn a living wage and re-paying Crst for the training he got that he did not have before. If he does not finish his contract it will go on his credit report and Crst will obtain a judgement against him. The cost of trucker training is $6,000. If he applies at a different trucking company, Crst will sue that company when they try to verify his employment. My advice is, to just tough it out and pay his trucker dues and finish his contract. Then he can move on to a solo company and have a great career.

Thanks all. Yeah, he's toughing it out till the end of June when his eight months is up. Such is life, eh?

This thread should be named CRST VAN-EX (students).

Im thinking of going to work as a lease driver for CRST.... any comments?

I need to find a good family oriented trucking company that I can make $1000 plus a week and still get home to see my kid I would prefer a weekend. Is this possible with CRST. I do not want to get stuck working for a bad company.

I'm not a cheerleader for CRST, but if you are considered an experienced driver and not going to take training, find out what they would have to offer you.
Read this thread for more information, there are also many other threads than this one about the company.
I wouldn't count on anything about home time, that can vary lots. You have to talk to people in operations and ask questions.
Good luck in your search. -
If you're experienced, the reefer dedicated division will take you. You have to reside within CA or PA. Those guys get home every week or so.
