Im going back over the road with werner after i took a long break with a trash company that did not work out. I am excited but at the same time super nervous and i have 70hr co driving time to complete but i guess is the best thing cause i need to get back in the groove.

I hope you get a better trainer than this one . http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/werner/168849-messed-up-trainer-no-one-talk.html

yeah i know me to the difference is im a really easy guy to get along with and i have no shame in my driving skills BUT.... everyone makes mistakes and i will let him know if he steps out of line
-
I wouldn't worry too much about what's going on in that other thread. Its just a stone cold rookie begging for a shoulder to cry on.
By the end of two weeks you'll have your 70hrs and then some with your trainer begging you to stay since his wallet has gotten so fat with a student that knows how to grab a gear.
Just make sure your trainer gets in the observation time ASAP and they'll have you in a nice beat up .5 million mile 08ish truck of your own in no time.
Get ahold of driver placement's phone number in orientation and call them up the day you get on a trainers truck. You may get hung up on a waiting list waiting for a dedicated account, but getting on it two weeks early means getting some decent miles with two weeks less spent dicking around on a joke of an account like driver's choice. -
Thanks for the info dude.. Im not picky when it comes to what truck it is as long as it gets me where i need to go and the radio works lol... i leave tomorrow for allentown so im pretty excited

True i am a roockie but i am not looking for a shoulder to cry on, there you are totally wrong.
I happen to get a bad trainer but i know of 3 other guys that started the same day as me and 2 off them got good trainers and the 3 one is on his second trainer so there are good trainers out there i just happen not to get one.
My trainer thinks that yelling and screeming are the way to teach students because "then it sinks in" as he put it to me when i told him to shut up and start talking to me.
So as long as you dont know what is going on dont talk down on newbies as some of us are able to drive and able to listen if spoken to not yelled at.
And for the other guy that are going to start i am pretty sure that you will get a good trainer and good luck. -
Ok, good buddy. You might not know it yet, but you don't know a #### thing about driving fresh out of CDL school. You'll still know next to nothing getting off the trainer's truck, whether you have a "good" or "bad" trainer. You'll be lucky if you learn anything before you lay up your first truck in a ditch because you "know what you're doing".
Maybe you should be sleeping during your break instead telling, re-telling, and defending your sob stories so you can focus when you sit down under that wheel. My first trainer sat me down my first day and told me the last student he had that talked back to him like you did got a knife held to his throat as a warning, so as far as I'm concerned, you've got it good. I didn't get to touch my phone until we were on a 34 hour reset, but even if I got to use it those 5 weeks, I wouldn't have been on here complaining about it.
Your trainer is doing what he deems fit to keep you both alive. If you respected him more, he might return the favor. -
Respect is a two way street. As a newby, I know that my job is to learn how to do the job. Mutual respect is needed to get everyone further down the road.
To be sure, a lot of yelling is just a waste of time. People learn to tune out when someone is constantly yelling. In my mind the yelling should be saved for when is really needed. Otherwise it's wasted energy.
If I do something that is putting us in danger I expect to hear it LOUD AND CLEAR.
Hang in there Clumben and get your training done. -
I only have 37 training hours left. I called driver placement and seems like no dedicated is available in my area right now. I'm going 48 state or maybe Eastern section of the U.S.

Bossoutlaw i know what you mean i have tried and tried to get hold of someone that could help but they dont seem to be wiling to help.
And to Barroll i NEVER claimed that i know anything about trucking comming out of CDL school that is something you desided that i believe i do but once again your wrong, and the fact that i am on here dont mean that i "waste" my sleep time no it means that i am in a motel and have time off when my trainer goes on hometime so eat that again barroll.
And the respect thing your talking about, well if he shows me respect i show him respect that how it is, if he treats me like #### i dont show him one bit of respect, and it is not respect to screem and yell all the time for something i have no control over, like bad roads that wakes him up when he deside to take a nap, maybe you where able to go 2mph on bad roads when you where in training because you had "respect" for your trainer but i sure as hell cant go that slow on the highway on any other way for that matter.
I drive the speed limit more or less how bad the road are and that is what it is, beside from that i have never heard about any trainer that complains because the traniee wont speed over the limit what mine does all the time, he drives as fast he can nomatter where he is, work zones dont slow him down and that is ###### up.
But i guess that i am just another dumass newbie that should learn how to speed in all zones and dont get a #### about anyone else on the road?? is that what your trying to say barroll?????.Female Driver Thanks this.
