    CHEWING GUM!

    Yep.

My trainer told me about it. The way it works... if you're chewing, your brain has to concentrate on something. If it's concentrating on something, it's keeping you alert.

I was run way too hard at my previous employer. There's pushing it to make a buck, and there's taking things way too far (NEVER AGAIN).

But when I did what I felt like I had to do (though I couldn't have been more wrong there) I would drink a lot of soda for the caffeine boost, but all that did was progressively wear you out more. Each time you'd use soda to boost yourself, you'd need more than the previous time.

I don't smoke, but know smokers, and they say the longer they've been smoking the more they "need" to smoke to get rid of their nicotine craving.

With chewing gum, you're jaw may get tired after a while, but so what. A tired jaw is not the end of the world. When you're head falls down and the wheels are turning, that may be the end of your world, and other people's as well.

Chew gum, keep your brain "thinking".

When you don't have nothing to do but drive down the road and it's an "easy run", that's when you're most susceptible to white line fever. If you have city traffic, lots of things to concentrate on you'll be less likely to "head flop", but than again, if you're pushing too hard you may get in an accident that's not even your fault, but when it's found that you were tired and would be head-flopping if you weren't chewing gum, than the fact remains that you're reactions will still be slower, and more jerky than they would be if you weren't worn the H#$L out.

    My 2 cents.

I am not a driver yet but I know when I fixed myself a fried egg on toasted honey wheat bread that gives me a noticeable burst of energy once I digest it.

Many run into the scenario of sleeping all night. Wake up and deliver. Then you spend all day waiting on a load. You can't sleep because you just woke up and then come 10 pm or so, you have to run all night.

It seems like eating anything wakes you up while you are eating. But then it's right back to being tired.

Last year I discovered dry roasted sunflower kernals. I love them but gave them up for the salt content. A cup of ice works good too.

If you get lucky and run across a Starbucks, ask for a Venti Doubleshot. It's not on the menu, but they all make them. It has 5 shots of Expresso in it. Guaranteed to keep you up.
