only the 8 hours in the sleeper can stop your 14 hour clock.

I use this because I have multiple deliveries on most days and if I sit for more than 2 hours getting loaded or unloaded I can shave two hours off my 10 hours in the sleeper. More time running and keeps the 2 hours sitting from being wasted time.

basically, the two work periods on either side of the 2 hour break can still not exceed the 11/14 hour rules, then once you take the 8 hour sleeper, the work periods before and after the sleeper period can not exceed the 11 hour rule. once you start using split sleeper, the only thing that can stop it is a 10 hour break.

It still works. It's pretty stupid but it works out. Same deal as you with the multiple drops. It works out for that.

Had another head shaker today. Had a 18 year old male driving a car and strike another car. One passenger jumps out and rolls out. The other driver gets out to see if everyone is ok and change information. The 18 year old male, takes off and a lookout given of the 18 year olds vehicle. Within 30 seconds another troop locates him and activates his lights and siren. 18 year old takes off, running through parking lots, jumping curbs, running through peoples yards and comes out on the dual highway I was on sitting at a red light. I was in the hammer lane sitting at light when I see him coming up behind me. He hits the slow shoulder to try and pass all the cars ahead of him and run the red light. The traffic was steady coming through the intersection. I look over at him, he's on the phone running his mouth, impatiently lurching forward waiting to run the light when the traffic got out of his way. The other troop was on his arse lights/siren going. This fella hasn't seen me yet, when I hooked in front of him and boxed him in. I could read his lips, "Oh sheet!!!I'm trapped" he kept screaming into the phone.:biggrin_2559: Then einstein decides to try and run on foot. He didn't make it 10 foot before he was dropped. Turned out he was on the phone with the guy that jumped out at the accident scene and fled on foot from there. Before we left the scene with him, the guy that jumped from the car (and who he was talking to when he was aprrehended) shows up where we were to tell us how to do our job.:biggrin_25524: So he got hooked to on disorderly, hindering and disturbing the peace. Really running for no reason, except it was his grandmother's car. To say the least when Grandmom showed up all I heard was her saying "When I get you two idiots home I'm going to find a baseball bat for your arse." Tore her car all to heck.

This has been the week of driver's texting and talking. I have stopped 6 trucks this week, 5 talking on cell and 1 texting while driving. The texting driver was all over the road. Pull up beside him, rode beside him for about 1/4 mile and he nearly struck me coming into my lane. The one company was local, and I have stopped them twice this month alone using the phone. On the previous stop I had lights and siren on for over 4 miles before he pulled over. Was in hammer lane passing the other lane traffic running 15 over.

A kid almost ran into me this morning, I had right of way (no stop). He had a stop and just ran it while talking on the phone, looked at me like I was crazy. Looks like he was 16 and a new (used) toyota rav4 on temp tags. Sometimes I wish the rules of the CCW would let me just shoot out the punks tires for doing this and being dumb.
