I tried blocking my number, I don't think it works on my cell. Also uploading my video of my exhaust thing.

If your on the border of Pa and Oh on I80 then your less then 30min from the TA in Youngstown, oh. Head over there and shut down and call breakdown. I donno which number you have but I always use this one 1-800-489-7467. don't try to get a hold of the shop manager cause they never answer jus press 2 (I think) for brrak down and the system will tell you how many people are ahead of you in the que. Tell them the truck blew a hole in the exhaust flex pipe and you managed to limp to the TA and they'll most likely ok it to get fixed there. Worse case is they'll want you to limp it to the terminal in Columbus. If they still pooh pooh on you then it's pretty much been agreed apon what ya should do next

Yeah, I'm not driving this truck any further. I can't see the whole pipe and it smells bad.

Not worth your life or the CSA points. Get that truck back to knight, get yourself a much better job. There are threads all over this forum with MUCH better companies that will fight over you.

Right, but I fear that even idling the truck to charge the batteries may cause further damage to the tractor or exhaust or both. I would rather have Knight come get the truck from me than risk damaging their equipment further, though I didn't really damage it, it's just wear that I noticed.

Believe me I understand your anger and frastration. It does'nt get any better with large carriers and they just don't care. You could be dieing and they'll put you on hold and send you to another dept. You have a valid reason for quitting but DO NOT leave that trk there, knight will get you for abandonment then you won't find a job anywhere ever.

I can't drive it, though. When I run the truck, the exhaust stinks inside. It's far too cold to drive with the windows down.

I also don't know if the insulation is far gone. I can't see all the way around the pipe and I don't want to cause a fire. I'm afraid of causing further damage by trying to move the truck. I'm definitely not putting myself, the load or other people out there at risk just to try to limp it to a terminal that's about 3 hours away if I don't stop, I think.

When I'm not sure, I hang tight. I would rather lose money by sitting still than lose money to fines and other things caused by me trying to make an unsafe vehicle go.

The youtube video is uploading from my iPhone. It's called My Knight truck exhaust.

Thanks for reading all of this. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm using my best judgment and keeping the truck where it is until Knight gets back to me on how to handle this. If they want it moved, they will have to get another driver to do it and sign me off. I'm not a sissy by any means, but I'm very nervous about even starting the truck to idle it to check the pipe. It smokes really bad when a regen cycle kicks in. I can only imagine the heat damage that might come next!
