Very nice. I personally would love a cabover but Rat wants a hood with a big ol' sleeper so a COE would be the complete opposite of that LOL

BTW, I'd have to pass on that one because the sleeper is too big for me. I like flattop trucks.

It's actually ridiculous the amount of #### nice trucks I've found over the past few weeks just poking around truck paper, which isn't the best source. I honestly can't understand why a smaller fleet would try to buy a bunch of brand new ones. Sure they have warranties, but if they're all crap and you have to use that warranty every other week while losing revenue and drivers over it, then why would you do that?

I haven't even looked at anything priced over $40k. Last time I priced a new truck (lease purchase) it would have cost me $83k + 12% interest. I don't get it. :biggrin_25512:

I give him credit for sticking to his guns. I'll take a good employee that shows up to work, does his job and doesn't tear up equipment. I buy for my drivers what I would want to drive. Sure the truck might cost a little more new but happy employees are loyal employees. If all you care about is the trucks purchase price then you'll probably get steering wheel holders.

Bottom line: "If you don't have a good driver, you'd better have a good shop!"

Whiners spoil employee moral and ruin productivity. Period. If you found a good driver once, you can find another to replace him. No employee is valuable enough to put up with those kinds of idiotic demands.

What demands do you think are idiotic? From what I see he either wants to keep his current truck, or replace it with one like it. You would fire a good driver because he wants to keep his current truck that has apparently been a good reliable one, or asks if you must replace it you get him one similar? :biggrin_2554:

I guess I kind of understand where you coming from but on opposite sides of the argument. If I have a driver tell me he's going to quit unless I buy him a Volvo I'll laugh his butt out the door.:biggrin_2559:

I don't own a trucking company but am a farmer/lots of other things. We have lots of employees come and go, seasonal work and such. There is a big difference between someone who can do a job without screwing up(hard to find ppl) and an even bigger difference finding someone who can do a job and do it well an knows what hes doing without baby sitting(even harder to find) So if and when a bussiness owner finds one i'd say its best to do everything(within reason) to keep them. If this guys boss is gonna buy a new truck and hood or no hood doesn't make much difference in fuel economy and its not a huge price difference, buy him what the driver likes. No point in buying a new truck if the driver is gonna quit. Point is its hard to replace a good driver. Might have to go through 8 bad drivers before finding another good one.

Hiring new employees is expensive too. Might find a good driver but then he quits in two weeks, hire a new driver that claims to know everything and find out hes a #######. Guy I drive for part time lost a good driver last year, has gone through 3 or 4 drivers since then trying to fill that spot
