Same thing pretty much happened to me today, she asked me when I could start and told me they were a few more things she was waiting on and the I would be good to go.

Well after a ton of soul searching, and kinda committing to Steven's, I talked to my recruiter (Vannessa) and looks like i'm gonna be heading to SLC to start training March 5.

Besides the better pay, having school payed back in a year instead of 3 yrs, and lots of other reasons, I'm feeling really good @ this decision. I understand that every company has it's issues, but thinking that overall I'll be a lot happier @ Central.

(just not ready for that 30+ hour bus ride from Austin. :biggrin_2552: gonna have to check in to seeing what a flight will cost.)

They reimbursed us what a bus ticket would have cost... So our flight was only about $40... MUCH nicer than a bus!!

I'm going to fax off my last bit of paper work in the morning to Vanessa to get my spot for the March 5 start. I'm ready to turn my notice in to my old job on Monday. (work @ a pawn shop and nope its nothing like ya see on tv.)

only concerned about one thing that i have not been able to get a strait answer on from her it regards the DOT physical. I have asthma, and after reading the DOT form it lists chronic asthma an instant disqualifier. YIKES. not really sure what they mean by chronic, i mean ya either have it or don't. it doesn't really effect me, i might use an inhaler twice a month and havnt had an "attack"in prob 10 years.

so heres hoping good Karma regarding that one.

Suggestion... Get a note from YOUR doctor that your asthma is controlled. . . It might help... But don't quote me :biggrin_25523:

I start at central a week from Monday they already pulled my background so I didn't have to quit my job I have now if I wasn't goin to pass. Now that I passed that is there anything else I have to worry about so they dont send me home ( even tho I only live 5 minutes away from the slc school). I really don't want to quit my job to go there if they are just going to send me away.

I applied to Central Refrigerated Service on Monday and a recruiter told me I was good to start the next Monday (If I could get all the paperwork done). He said he had a few more questions and started asking the standard criminal history and speeding tickets. What seems to have disqualified me is the fact that I was terminated from my last job. He did not ask for an explanation and ended the call then. Is this common for all trucking companies if so what would you suggest I do to get past this. I really want to start driving but I need a school that has little money out of pocket at first. Thank you for your time.
