Very easy>Get a "Customs Broker" that has a physical office @ the port you will be entering the US @ and away you go. They will tell you exactly what you require. Remember that FET has to be paid on any truck imported from Canada.
bigtire Thanks this. -
Were are you looking ? I am searching for a used truck and all the canada trucks are much more expensive than USA trucks.

I have seen a International 2006 with Cummins ISX for $14000 USD, around the Toronto area......

Can't say for certain, but US/Canadian smog ceertifications are different. So you may have to get it re-certified in the USA and that can be expensive.
-
Don't think so. EPA certificates and stickers are that. We move stuff across the border BOTH ways and with the proper documentation it's a breeze.
-
Watch out for rust and perished rubber hoses etc on canadian trucks. Lots of exposure to harsh winter road chemicals on canadian trucks.

I looked into buying a used car in Canada once. Except for certain model years in the early 90's, the EPA certifies Canadian compliant market autos as being legal. I would assume the same applies to commercial trucks,
The cars that weren't EPA legal were certain European makes in the years when cars switched from OBD1 to OBD2 emissions controls. -
youre better off sticking with a truck from down there.

Plus 12% FET....
