Gashauler; you may have a point. Clearly the overwhelming majority of those being trained are younger men. From what I've read, many of those are rather 'thin skinned'. I guess you could blame it on technology but whatever the reason it seems people are not quite as 'worldly'. EVERYTHING is new to them. Couple that with grossly unqualified instructors; you have a very alien environment. IMHO.

All the trolling I've done, I've come up with the top ten WORST companies, this is only the opinions of the people on here

    1- CR England
    2- Knight Transportation
    3- Werner
    4- Martin
    5- JB Hunt
    6- Swift
    7- US Express
    8- FFE
    9- Western Express
    10- Celadon

Now mind you I've never worked for any one of them, I did do a power only for JB Hunt, (it wasn't that bad)

My point is like the other guy just said on here, EVERY SINGLE TRUCKING COMPANY
out there as some driver talking crap about them...

I have a friend that drives for Conway, he said its not all sunshine and rainbows,
I have a friend that drives for Crete, its a good company once you get past the BS
I have another friend that works for Knight, HE LOVES IT ... He was given a brand new Volvo, and he's training making big money

But if you go by what people say on here, there isn't ANY good trucking companies out there...

Lets Say I bought a trucking company I give the driver
    A brand new Freightliner Cornodo,
    Fridge
    Micro,
    Apu,
    built in GPS,
    TV DVD player,

I then pay the driver .50 cents a mile full or empty, I let the driver run where he or she wants to run with no force dispatch, and use paper logs....
I guarantee my trucking company would be on here by some driver saying they don't like the color of the truck, or I didn't buy a Pete or a Volvo

NO ONE is every happy with their job, everything you read on this web site has to be taken with a grain of salt, you don't see too many people on here posting good things about companies cause they are happy, running and making money, the last thing they are going to do is get on a computer message boards and boast about the company they are working for, cause the second they do, they will get accused of being a recruiter...

    Crusty,

Being that you are prior experienced and in GA, there is a company called J & R Schugel in New Ulm,MN that will probably hire once you finish the school. They hire outta parts of GA. They won't send you with a trainer (they don't have them). There was a few guys I know that got hired on there after they completed a "refresher" course at the TDS.

Schugel isn't the best but they are a lot better than most of these crap companies out there. I worked for them for a little while. They aren't too bad. Nice people, good trucks (nowadays) and steady frieght. At least while I was there I kept moving and enjoyed my time.

Worth a shot and probably better than spending 3 months with a turd trainer at a giant company.

    Crusty Thanks this.

"Well the list IS for me. Since I have not driven since '99."

Crusty, I was in the same situation. I hadn't used my CDL in ten years but I wanted to get back into driving part time. Luckily, where I live there is a lot of milk haulers always hurting for drivers. They were eager to get me into a truck. I picked up from the farms and delivered to the dairys for almost a year then jumped over to a great company pulling flatbed. I don't know if that kind of situation exsists in your area but thought I'd share. Best of luck...

IVT; thanks. Just wrote it down. WILL contact them. Do NOT want to ride with a 'trainer' if I can avoid it.
