It's not so much that they are designed to fail, but that most people who jump into them haven't clue how to develop and follow a business plan ... so by virtue of that they are destined to fail.

Taxes are one of the points. You just can't turn your statements and receipts over to someone and expect them to do right by you. You need to know enough to be able to do your own, the only reason to hand them off is if the cost of doing them saves you enough time so that you can make up enough revenue to cover the expense ... A lease operater should have a much smaller tax liabilty on the same net income as company driver, I netted $40K last year, yep about the same as company driver. But my marginal tax rate is about 4% total, including self employment. By comparison a company driver is going to pay 6.5% in FICA alone.

Oh, and I'm not with CRE, thier progam does not pencil out for a solo driver. By design, it forces you to either train or run as a team. That's why so many fail, they don't do the proper business planning to understand they won't make it as a solo.

The crazy thing is that CR England Advertisements constantly appear on this Forum. I am not surprised that some click on them and get hooked before they do any further research

I started with prime a month ago I am on my second trainer and we are doing good. Prime is a good company to work for, you will not find much negative about them. There will always be someone unhappy but for the most part it is a good start

Prime will not force you in to a lease I am currently a student with a lease op at Prime He tells me NOT TO LEASE and no one at prime is trying to talk me in to a lease. Unless you work for them don't say things you have no idea about

If companies like Werner and CR England are in fact that awful how do they maintain their contracts and their customers. With the current state of our economy much of what was horribly run has failed. If inexperienced drivers are the soul of the company how many loads actually are making it on time? Both of the trucking school I have visited here in Las Vegas push companies such as Swift, Werner and CR England and it appears that is the trend in numerous states. There must actually be a great deal of success at these companies but with the increasing number of workers there are increased number of complaints. I wish we had some company leaders in this forum to clear this mess up.

I worked for both and warner was better, but not by much. England doent force anyone they let you talk yourself into it. The lies start by telling you there is a room at the Ramada which is their dorm upstairs that you share with 15 guys. During day one before the road test they start pumping numbers at you like 1800 miles is all you need to run to make trk payment the rest is profits blah blah blah ... Then I moved from company driver to lease op by lunch just like 90% of the people there. I only know of one of the people that attended with me back in 2001 that lasted 5 yrs there but the were a married couple, the rest like me quit in less the 2 months. The runs were there but to tight of a run for solo I got busted north of Joplin, Missouri by DOT sneaking to KC,MO but it was my fault for listening to dispatch of get it and get home or sit til Monday .
