Respect! This is a business, folks. That means we all have customers and suppliers. In this case, the broker is a supplier. You pay for what you get. If you want to go out and get direct freight, fine. But if not, your broker has to pay for the lights to turn on, worker's comp, payroll taxes, computers, phone lines... need I go on? Sure there are those who WAY overcharge. But there are also highly ethical, professional brokers out there and the sooner we stop BASHING them and start working with them to see how we can all be more successful, the better. You do not HAVE to take a load. Don't like the broker, hang up the phone. But I can assure you that you can develop strong working relationships with brokers based on mutual respect. Remember, were it not for you -- they WOULD NOT HAVE A JOB! Be polite. Be respectful. Appreciate that there job is not always easy. But DON'T accept cheap freight. Hang up and move on. If enough of us do that, trust be that broker will eventually hang up there hat and be out of business.

 

I see nothing wrong with a broker taking whatever they want from a load. Granted i think they should always be fair, but they are also running a business and have overhead just like us drivers. I have the right to say "no thank you" to anything offered to me. If i dont feel the rate is justifiable or something serms out pf place, then that is exactly what i do. If someone complains about a broker taking too much then they should not have accepted the load. It is their own fault and if more drivers turned down loads from brokers doing this, then said brokers would soon go out of business. But instead, they have no clue how to manage themselves and just take what's offered and then complain about it. I don't see the point in this.
