I wish I could give you some advice here, Bender. I would tell you to go with the tanker job, but that 18-month leash is a long one. I don't think I'd want to be tied to that. However, the glass hauling route has its own problems, I'm sure, or there would be no openings for that job.

I think if I were in your shoes, I'd go with the tanker job. But I see you're going with Mav.
    Good luck.

From what I'm told by a couple of their drivers that is all they have now.

Well I'll be. I drove an auto once, it was ok. Hard to get used to for me though.

Well Maverick called me and said they had a cancelation in there non glass division. They said to head to Little Rock this weekend. Here I am. I start school Monday morning. What is the overal opinion on this company? SOmeone has been postong BAD stuff on this site so I was not sure if it was someone that has issues or if the company has major issues.

Good deal. I was going to advise you against the Mav Specialized because there are some reports that their management is not done by Mav Little Rock yet, and thats creating some problems. It seems as if the former SNI management that was doing the glass division before Mav bought them is still running things and its not working as smoothly as the Mav flatbed division. Mav flatbed would be a serious consideration for me if I were looking for work and they hired from my area (they dont').

I drove an autoshift across the parking lot once so I can't really say. I do not think I would like one because I can't pick what gear I want. Like with a 13 handshaker.
That being said here are a couple of opinions about the auto shift and hearsay on the newer ultrashifts.

2 guys I know that have the autoshift DO NOT like them at all.

And from what I've heard about the ultrashift is that they are a lot more user friendly and folks like them. This model only has a brake and gas pedal like an auto car.

Yeah thats the same as what I drove there. I didn't take it on a long haul or anything. About 70 miles or so loaded. It was ok on flat ground but when it came to a hill... may as well forget about it. I think it may have been slipping though. I kept stomping the floorboard and reaching for that gear stick though. Haha!!! One of my best friends that drives as well went along for the ride and he was laughing his butt off at me because I never quit doing it. Even when we pulled up at the yard, I was searching for the clutch pedal.. and to be honest, it really freaked me out when I couldn't find it.

Well I just got my CDL. I am back at Maverick now and am training. I get to go home this coming Thursday and I am glad since I have been gone over three weeks as of right now. I Thankg God I passed my test and I understood how things worked on the truck. I give God all the glory because I was scared on my test and he kept me calm!
